Room was spacious, clean, well appointed, modern. (To my surprise I received an upgrade) Bathroom also spacious, clean, well appointed and modern. Both shower and jacuzzi. It is a large facility. The internal signage was good. Breakfast full selection Dinner wide selection and tasty. Not high cuisine, but more than standard Buffet lunch for workshop group was fresh, tasty and attractive I facilitated a workshop - the facilities were excellent and the staff friendly and efficient. Easy to deal with in advance and they met all our needs throughout the day.

Drenthe is the most 'silent' province of the Netherlands and Assen, being its capital, offers the facilities you may need for a stay. Some parts of the city are particularly attractive: the forest 'Asser Bos' and the part of the city between that forest, the canel Drentse Hoofvaart, and the railway station.

We travelled to Assen to attend an important art exhibition...

We travelled to Assen to attend an important art exhibition at the Drents. We had no other itinerary, other than to see the exhibition, and leave. What a pleasant surprise! Friendly, engaging locals, and a pretty little town that is really easy to get around. We stayed the night, and were happy we did. An unforeseen highlight of our visit to Holland.

I was there on business and didn't have much time for fun...

I was there on business and didn't have much time for fun things, but it was right next to a nice shopping area, and there was some kind of party going on behind the building, which also made for a nice atmosphere. There were also nice restaurants and delicious food. I was driving, so I didn't have any experience with public transport.

Assen is a lively city with plenty of shopping opportunities, but also pleasant walks in the surrounding areas, such as the green spaces along the canal. The large Drents Museum is very diverse and beautifully situated.

We visited the Assen Museum, which was a lot of fun and...

We visited the Assen Museum, which was a lot of fun and quite extensive if you want to see everything. We also briefly visited the Dickens Festival/Christmas market. Small but very enjoyable. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate. The B&B was excellent.

Assen is a lovely city, and there's plenty to do for a short...

Assen is a lovely city, and there's plenty to do for a short break. The Drents Museum is absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend it. Be sure to visit after October 19, 2024, when the renovations will be complete and you can enjoy the new exhibition. Tuesday is a great day with the market. There are cozy restaurants (be sure to arrive early, as the kitchen often closes at 8 p.m.).

Very helpful staff, large comfortable room and wet room. Excellent breakfast and meals served in their adjacent restaurant. Relaxed atmosphere and conveniently close to all facilities, including railway station, shops, market, an excellent museum and the very reasonably priced town hall underground car park. An excellent centre for visiting the Drenthe Moor megalithic remains.
