Buren is a small village, but Ameland is also a small island...

Buren is a small village, but Ameland is also a small island, so you cannot expect large towns here. Very nice nature, as in all Ameland. Large dunes, where you can bike or take a walk... Beautiful beaches with lots of sand... Beach restaurant (we did not visit it due to covid19)... Ameland is small, so we biked through all the island during our 4 days stay: one day to one side, another day to another side. Good restaurants to order meal. We reccomend to try fish restaurant Str. Anders and Italiand meal restaurant De Branding. Meal was delicisious.

We've been to Buren several times. We rented an e-bike.

We've been to Buren several times. We rented an e-bike. It's great for exploring the surrounding area and the island; you don't really need a car. We ate at De Bakery Raspatat, a very casual snack bar. There's a Spar supermarket that's open on Sundays. We played paddle tennis. The beach is lovely. There are beach huts for coffee.

We stayed at Klein Vaarwater from 1967 to 2007, so for 40...

We stayed at Klein Vaarwater from 1967 to 2007, so for 40 years, then sold it and moved to Sweden. We've now returned to L24, and everything about this caravan was disappointing. The reception and camp shop are excellent!

Because I didn't get well, my stay was a day shorter than...

Because I didn't get well, my stay was a day shorter than planned. I took a taxi to the ferry, and if I were to go again, I would take the car. When you're dependent on a walker and public transport, it's a challenge. The bus didn't come close to the hotel, so I had to rely on a taxi.

Buren has a beautiful, wide, sandy beach where you can play,...

Buren has a beautiful, wide, sandy beach where you can play, sunbathe, and swim in peace. Buren has a pub and a restaurant, but for more shops and restaurants, you'll have to go to Nes. It's only a 5-10 minute bike ride, so you'll be there in no time. A bicycle is definitely recommended on Ameland. You can cycle beautifully through the dunes or along the dike.

The Natural History Museum is highly recommended.

The Natural History Museum is highly recommended. The signage for cycling from Nes to Buren is not very clear. The Kooikerhuus is an excellent place to enjoy a delicious meal. Stranders is also a welcoming place to eat.

It is a cozy hotel only 10 minutes bikeride away from the port. The beach can be reached also in approximately 10 minutes by bike. The personnel was very friendly and pro-actively helpful! They offered and arranged for us to have two rooms next to each other. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. The bar has a nice atmosphere. The breakfast was varied, fresh and tasty.

Another stay in the Strandhotel Buren another top stay. We have been several times here, and every time we enjoy it as much. This time on top, we did stay in the suite which was newly renovated. Whole room was smelling like a wood. Amazing. Full equipment kitchen. Lovely breakfast. There is not 1 thing I can complain about We will definitely come back.
