Delft is a picturesque Dutch city with canals and historic buildings, situated between Rotterdam and The Hague. Birthplace of the famous Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer, this destination is also home to the iconic Delft blue porcelain and the University of Technology.
Like a phoenix from the ashes, the 17th century Town Hall of Delft was destroyed on 1618 and rebuilt by the architect Hendrick de Keyser. Located across from the City Hall in the centre of the Market square, the Protestant church of Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) with the imposing tower is connected with the Dutch Royal Family.
Resting place for Piet Hein, Maarten Tromp and Johannes Vermeer, the Oude Kerk (Old Church) was built in 1240 and is one of the main landmarks of the city along with the Prinsenhof. Booking.com offers a variety of apartments and hotels in the centre of Delft.

We only and two nights and one day in Delft (between Brussels and the flight home). There were more things to do in the area if we would have had time. We could have explored nearby cities since they are easily accessible by train. We could have explored Kinder Dyk from there as well. Delft is a relatively quiet little town and a good alternative to the crowded nearby Amsterdam. It was easy access by train to the airport.Guest review byMatchick - 8.0

Lovely old town with many canals and small local shops. Peaceful. Has not yet been invaded by international brands. We enjoyed walking around, looking at old buildings, visiting the "new" church, climbing its tower, and buying antique Delft tiles. We stayed in a family room which had cooking facilities, which was awesome. It's a good 20 minute walk to the centre of Delft but there is loads of parking and very quiet overnight. Right next door to IKEA! The meal we had there was lovely and the staff were so kind and helpful. There was also lots of safe bike storage, which was fab. Last year we used the Ustall close to the theatre which is indoors, guarded and locked at night, a short walk from the hotel itself. Big room suprisingly quiet considering that the hotel is situated in a very popular central square location.
