Quirky building and check-in was unusual which initially made me nervous, but it couldn't have been slicker - much slicker than checking in via a receptionist. Breakfast was nice and enough to start the day. Ambience in dining hall was amazing. Presentation skills for the breakfast were great. Hostess was very pleasant and helpful. The only reason I didn't give full marks for staff and facilities was because we only had that 1 contact with staff which was faultless and there are no facilities (i.e. gym, pool bar, social area) - however you are so close to the town that the selection of bars and restaurants within 3 mins walk is more than enough to satisfy anyone. Thoroughly recommend as a base for a vacation as well as work.

The place is perfectly located in a quiet and calm countryside. The garden is a lovely place to sit or to have breakfast in, with cherry trees and so many beautiful plants around. The owner is super sweet and gave so many tips for sightseeing. The breakfast each morning is the highlight and I always looked forward to it. The portion was huge enough to keep me full till evening. Honestly, there couldn't be a better place to stay, when in Netherlands. The place gets a strong recommendation from my side. Would love to come back.

You can easily reach Alkmaar by bus, and the various beaches...

You can easily reach Alkmaar by bus, and the various beaches are also easily accessible from Egmond aan Zee to Den Helder, where you can also take a ferry to Texel. The restaurants in the surrounding area are also highly recommended.

What makes Schagen a wonderful base is its proximity to the beach, a playground/amusement park, the towns, and the surrounding nature/mountains. There's something for everyone. And towns like Schagen, Schoorl, Bergen, and Alkmaar are great fun to explore.

Schagen is a charming town with very friendly inhabitants.

Schagen is a charming town with very friendly inhabitants. From Schagen, you can take lovely day trips to Alkmaar, Callantsoog, and Bergen aan Zee. A 20-minute drive to Den Helder offers an inexpensive ferry crossing to Texel. In the evenings, you can enjoy the pleasant atmosphere in the various restaurants near the church, often under heated awnings.

A charming, clean, and lively little town. Good shopping, excellent restaurants, and friendly residents. It has good transport connections and exemplary cycle paths. Schagen even has its own train station.

Schagen is a nice little town, but why the church is only open on market day is beyond me. Menus should be listed in English, if not in German, so that people know what they're ordering.

The location is excellent, in the centre of Schagen, close to all the bars and restaurants and a short walk from the train station. The room was very comfortable, everything provided that you need. Breakfast in the morning is also very good.

fantastic location, very comfy stay, friendly staff, they also made sure that our bikes were secured overnight as we did a bike packing trip. they allowed secure parking for our bikes in the hotel which i was really happy about.
