A kind lady at the dolmen center pointed us to a lovely walk away from the hustle and bustle. We had a good meal in Grolloo with friendly service. The cafe in Schoonloo was a disappointment. Apparently, they were too busy with a meeting. We were waved away by the hostess. She was extremely inhospitable.

The location is excellent and easy to reach.

The location is excellent and easy to reach. There's ample parking. We had a delicious meal there, and the breakfast was also excellent. The beds are comfortable. Coffee and tea making facilities are available in the room. There's no bakery or supermarket in Schoonloo; for groceries, Borger is the closest.

The sculpture garden (I don't remember the name or address)...

The sculpture garden (I don't remember the name or address) was a pleasant surprise. There are also two sand pits nearby with water suitable for swimming and a modest kiosk for refreshments. Near Borger is the Hunnenbeddencentrum (Hun Bed Centre), a pleasant open-air museum. Little to no horizon pollution, wherever you look.

Beautiful village, with an excellent restaurant! (Loohoeve) Too bad there was no supermarket. It's located in a beautiful area. Beautiful cycling area. The Wolvenspoor is highly recommended! 5km walking route... Beautiful.

In Schoonloo itself, probably nothing spectacular has happened in the last 100 years. But that's not the village's charm. It's ideally situated as a base for walking (e.g., ideal for Pieterpad hikers, as it's a start/finish point for the trail), cycling, and enjoying the nature and tranquility.

It was a lovely tiny house situated in resort just out of Schoonloo. It was silent and wooded with lots of bird sounds. The tiny house was exceptionally comfortable and all our needs met. It was a wonderful surprise and exceeded expectations. It is ideally situated for exploring the region of Drenthe. Well worth a visit to the region.

Lovely place, friendly staff. The breakfast is highly recommended. The evening meals are very tasty. Very good location if the want to go the Assen MotoGP Bus stop just outside hotel.
