We stayed here after a long day climbing in Jotunheimen NP, which is only about a 30-minute drive away. This unique hotel comprises a complex of beautiful, historic buildings within a stunning mountainous setting. You can see that a lot of effort has gone into the preservation of its history including maintaining original furnishings, the art and decor, and the historic items used there. We stayed in a restored schoolroom - it was cosy, clean and comfortable. We also really enjoyed bathing in a wooden tub! The toiletries were plentiful and lovely. We paid extra for the dinner and it was absolutely divine - fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. (They also kindly accommodated my pescetarian dietary preferences!). The breakfast was also plentiful, diverse and delicious - many of the breakfast items were handmade (including the pastries and jams!), which is so rare these days. After breakfast, you were encouraged to make sandwiches to take for your lunch which was very kind. The staff were very friendly and hospitable.

Absolutely amazing place, full of old spirit and comfortable atmosphere. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The room was cleaned every day, even though it wasn’t necessary, but that just shows how much the staff cares about you.

This was a magical place to stay, full of history woven into every corner. We loved reading about the story behind the building — it made the experience even more special. The apartment was perfectly clean, which made us feel immediately comfortable and at home. The terrace was amazing, with two comfortable deckchairs and a spacious dining area — ideal for outdoor meals and relaxing. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and would love to come back someday.
