FAQs about hotels in Oslo

Into the Wild in Oslo

Spreading for hundreds of kilometres from the mouth of the Oslofjord, Oslo is the largest city by area in Europe and is liberally covered in pristine forests rising up into the outlying hills. South of the unassuming city hall lies a vibrant waterfront known as Aker Brygge, which in summer is full of bustling outdoor restaurants and bars.

For the prettiest buildings head to affluent inner-city suburbs of Frogner and Fagerborg, or admire the traditional Scandinavian wooden houses of Bygdøy and Holmenkollen. Monumental buildings include the Royal Palace which runs daily tours and the Akershus Festning, which is a medieval castle that also served as a military base and provides impressive views of the Oslofjord. Oslo City Hall, or rådhus, offers even more distinctive architecture and it is the location of the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

Nature is never far away in Oslo which is ringed by an archipelago of islands which are extremely popular in summer. Hiking, kayaking and sailing are all easily achievable within the city limits. Just as popular, are the many museums. The national Museum houses Edvard Munch’s famous painting The Scream and Viking Ship Museum containing long-lost relics from Norway’s Viking past.

From downtown Sentrum to the Oslo Airport Gardermoen to the stunning statues in Frogner Park, Booking.com has over 80 hotels and other accommodations available.

The National Museum was well worth going around - that is where the Scream by Edvard Munch is and some other good exhibits. Vigeland Park was a really beautiful walk with great statues - really easy to get there on metro or tram. Most things to see are completely walkable. Enjoyed the view from the Opera House.

Norway is a beautiful and friendly place, very clean and pretty. Oslo is too and the Grand Hotel is convenently set in the centre of the city across from the parliament and down the road from the palace. Great place to hang out and wander.

I loved Oslo so much - the people were so kind and friendly - the streets were so clean and beautiful and each neighborhood so unique. Would highly recommended visiting Oslo and I'd love to go back sometime soon. Getting around was simple - we did a lot of walking, and rented bikes. The trains to and from the airport were pretty easy access and on time - would recommend over taking a car. We did use uber during our stay a bunch of times and were always able to find well-priced rides.

Oslo is a great city for seeing art - we really enjoyed the National Museum, as well as walking around and taking in many of the public art works. If you like to play disc golf, the #1 rated course in the world is a quick and easy 20 minute bus ride from central station. Oslo was wonderful for just wandering around - lots to see and good people watching in the city centre. We had the most fun renting scooters and zipping around to see some of the views in the city. Expensive food was the main drawback, but this can't be avoided in Norway.

Absolutely amazing, it's a must-go.

Absolutely amazing, it's a must-go. It's a smaller city, but the amount of things you can see is just wonderful. It's just beautiful. I am a solo female traveler and I felt completely safe, even after dark.

Oslo itself is lovely.

Oslo itself is lovely. It's very clean, with excellent facilities but be aware that it is very expensive. I've been there before, so I only went there again because I was going to stay with a friend. Unfortunately she got COVID, so I had to book a hotel at the last minute. Combine that with airport transfers and food and it turned into a hideously expensive trip.

Book the Deluxe Double Room. The location is perfect and very close to everything. The lounge is severely underrated and should be visited by all who stay here. The chef was brought in and is amazing. Small menu, tried everything and it was all 5 star. The rooms can be surprisingly small in this hotel. The Deluxe Double rooms are on the front corner of the hotel and have the most space (see my fire exit picture). It is worth every penny for this space and it has the best view.

It was just 5 minutes to to Oslo centre station. Bus station 7 minutes. City center, cafes and supermarket only few minutes away. Nice buffet breakfast in the cafe joining on to the hotel. The kitchen in the hotel was good as you could buy food from the small supermarket as was cheaper then the cafes, had to pay for the coffee from the coffee machine when it was working . There was shower gel in the shower and plenty clean towels available.

The location is great as you are right in the city center and close to a lot of bus stops and metros. Most of the things you want to visit are at a walking distance, which makes the location of the hotel pretty attractive. Rooms are clean and the stuff is available to help you.

Good position, close to the city center (there is also a tram stop in front of the hotel). Good variety of breakfast choices (sweet and savory). Bed for 2 person was comfortable and the view from the room was nice (13’ floor)
