The hotel seems to be from the fifties, well kept with a nice feeling, It was probably build for visiting workers, so four workers slept in what is today one hotel room. The manager was friendly, there was a good norwegian breakfast and plenty of free parking lots outside the hotel. We had a magnificent view from our room and the sound of a small running river, if we opened our window.

Rjukan as a town has a fascinating history. However the reason we come is to ice climb. Obviously, this is a niche attraction and Ice climbers will know why Rjukan. However, the history and beauty plus accessibility of venues is world class for this activity. Beyond the climbing, Rjukan is an interesting town with all the main amenities one could need as a base for exploring the amazing countryside in which it sits.

A beautiful place to visit and have a look around.

A beautiful place to visit and have a look around. A few nice places you could eat, I tried the little restaurant next to where I stayed at Hytteby. The town is easy to get around as there is mostly one street that goes all the way through. The fact that Norways oldest cablecart (krossbannen) was there was really nice and I did take a trip up and the view was amazing.

I loved the house's location, surrounded by greenery and facing the waterfalls. A car is essential. It's far from the city. It's a wonderful place to relax and recharge. It's certainly not for those who enjoy the high life, as there aren't any special activities.

Been to Rjukan several times.

Been to Rjukan several times. Lots of fun to see, experience, learn. The place is full of friendly and service-minded residents. Beautiful nature, exciting history, good places to stay, free parking. Easy to find. Several different adventure options. Of course, we recommend Vemork, Gaustadtoppen (been there several times) and Krossobanen. Today we are looking forward to the Rjukanbanen.

Gaustatoppen is worth a visit.

Gaustatoppen is worth a visit. Take the train and cog railway up there and walk down. Buses run between the various valley stations. Be sure to take the Krossobahn up and take a stroll. For the more experienced hiker, there are even more options in Rjukan.

There were 3 of us, booked a single room and a double room.

There were 3 of us, booked a single room and a double room. The bed in the double room was simple, just two beds put together. Bad to sleep together. While the single room had a 160 bed that would have been much better in a double room. Otherwise a bit on the expensive side for what you get. Simple outdated rooms, with toilet and shower/sink separated.

A wonderful, clean hotel with perfect customer service and attitude. It is located near the famous hydroelectric power plant in Rjukan and besides the river bank. The rooms have comfortable beds, a sofa, a refrigerator and a small table. In addition, there are tables and benches for spending time outdoors. Bufet breakfast - tasty and with enough food options. Thanks for the nice stay.

Well equipped cabin, clean and newly renovated. Tastefully decorated. Absolutely lovely mountains to wake up to. The proximity to Krossobane and Rjukan swimming pool was also a big bonus!
