We didn’t go into the town of Haast, but were just outside,...
We didn’t go into the town of Haast, but were just outside, on the road to Jackson Bay. After the crowds and bustle of other towns, Haast Beach was a welcome change. If you like expansive, empty beaches, with great walkability and rock collecting, this is the experience for you.

A lovely small town on the edge of the Mt Aspiring National...
A lovely small town on the edge of the Mt Aspiring National Park that was a great gateway to all this area has to offer for walking, biking and just enjoying the scenery. Good choices for restaurants, close to a beach and a very neat inviting town.

Not many tourists stop here.
Not many tourists stop here. The Visitors Centre is amazing with a brilliant interpretative display. The drive to Jackson Bay is well worth making the time for to explore the wild Southland areas. Highly recommend the Heartland Hotel for dinner.

Great value for money, great room and very good wifi.
Great value for money, great room and very good wifi. Restaurant on-site excellent. But no kitchen in room, no toaster, no fridge in room (shared fridge in hallway), makes it difficult to have breakfast in your room.

It was a great base to check out South Westland from.
It was a great base to check out South Westland from. We found lots more walks we could have done if we had more days there. Great drive up to Franz Josef and back in a day. The history and geography are amazing. Stunning scenery.

Some really good coastal walks set up by DOC.
Some really good coastal walks set up by DOC. Some great board walks and coastal walks of various lengths. Peaceful area with most tourists not taking advantage of the walks and stopping in car parks for a quick look only. Warning: don't go off road near beachs. We towed someone out of the sand!

We stayed at Haast Beach Hotel as a stopover between Franz Josef and Queenstown and we were so pleased we did. It is a lovely modern hotel in a wonderful location directly opposite the superb Haast beach. I was concerned about previous reviews regarding sandflies and can honestly say we were not troubled in our room at all. The room facilities including kitchenette were great and spotlessly clean.

Nice location, nice motel and holiday park. watch the sundowners - they are awesome and very beautiful. the common area is a little bit outdated but that‘s perfectly fine. I suppose most guest are staying just for a night and for that it‘s perfect.

Haast is a very small township and this motel was close to the small number of shops. The unit was tidy; some aspects could be renovated. It had all the facilities we needed however. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

a nice studio motel,very clean and comfortable.
Hotel offers nice ,well priced meals, great service from friendly staff and a great open fireplace on the cold nights.

Great hotel in Haast, staff was super friendly, location was amazing (in the middle of nowhere, with a lot of green around and if the weather is nice you'll see an insane milky way)
