It was not the best time to visit what would normally be a...

It was not the best time to visit what would normally be a lovely alpine village, due to a recent major storm event which felled a large number of trees. All the cycling and walking tracks in the forest were closed. We also had trouble with some driving, due to road closures not identified on websites. I enjoyed the thermal pools, despite it being wet at the time. The heating pools kept you warm and there was some shelter in the rain. I was glad to get a good discount on standard entry. It snowed whilst we were there, and it was very scenic seeing the big peaks snow covered in late October. We walked through light snow in the nearby Lewis Pass. We enjoyed some nice food in local cafes and assembled a healthier meal from a trip to the local 4 Square. I would like to come back when the tracks are reopened.

The welcome from Victoria was excellent and the information she supplied was very helpful, we stayed in the different pools a total of six hours until they closed at 7pm, The day was overcast with intervals of sunshine, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and some thing to wrap around you if wind is blowing, excellent place to visit for us oldies or if you have kids of all ages,

The main reason for visiting was the hot pools which did not disappoint. The Forrest also was a highlight with plenty of options for walks. We enjoyed the sculpture walk and even found a fairy house trail nearby. Plenty of places to eat.

Scenic, lots to do and locals are friendly. Really easy to get around the town centre on foot, everything is close together. Recommend stopping at some cellar doors in Waipara on the way through if you are coming from Christchurch. We hiked, went quad biking with Hanmer Springs Attractions, visited the Hanmer Springs Pools, dined out and shopped at various locations.. We even hired a Rocket bike to do a lap of town and get our bearings. We drove up the Hanmer Springs Ski Area but unfortunately, lack of snow and windy weather prevented us having a day of snow sports. Charming town

Hanmer Springs is a lovely little township.

Hanmer Springs is a lovely little township. The hot pools were a great experience with lots of pools available. MK restaurant was beautiful - the food and the experience was amazing. Beautiful clothing and homeware stores. Everything is in walking distance, the well stocked supermarket, and very friendly people.

Hanmer Springs is a neat place which we have stayed at as a stopover on longer trips. Walked Conical Hill walkway. Have ridden bike trails before latest visit. Hot pools are exceptional...among, if not the best, in the country...great price for seniors with bonus AA discount. Shops are nice. Lovely scenery. Plenty of choice for eating out.

A great location, very close to the Hanmer Springs Hot Pools - the main reason for our family trip to Hanmer. The unit was of a high standard - lovely communal kitchen and living space, a great extra nook for working or chilling out, two balcony areas with hill views and two great sized bedrooms with comfy beds. We received a friendly welcome from the new owner and from others working at the motel, despite it being a v busy weekend. It is definitely on my return list.

The unit was spacious, including large kitchen and bathroom. The bed was super-comfy. I've had 2x spinal surgeries and usually find my stays in motels uncomfortable even in what looks like 'great beds' but this bed was like sleeping on air. Wish I could remember the brand name of the kitchen knife I used, one of the long ones in a sheath. That was a great knife, want to get one for home mine are not great. I'm inclined to contact motel and ask.

Stunning location overlooking Hanmer Range, situated five mins outside of Hanmer Springs in secluded and quiet location. Property has only three rooms and a cottage. It is also a wedding venue. There is no restaurant and no breakfast but cheese board and your own bottle of wine on arrival, included in the price. This place is real luxury, spotlessly clean and well run.
