Beautiful setup amid peaceful garden with great scenery, positioned just off the main street before the busier areas of thermal pools, restaurants, cafes and shops so a very short walk to main area of town. Exceptional host and a very warm welcome. We had a cabin in the garden so self-contained. It was amazing, being clean and very comfortable. It was cold during our stay and the underfloor heating was great. Excellent shower and facilities. Just a very short walk to the centre and many eateries. In the other direction is the sculpture walk in the forest as well as other trails. Very quiet and we had use of the garden for reading which was lovely. So glad we booked and would recommend.

Hanmer Springs is an alpine place with Hot Pools and lots of bars and restaurants. They also have other activities (which we didn't do). The restaurants are excellent and the whole ambience of the place very pleasant. Golf course is lovely too

It was not the best time to visit what would normally be a...

It was not the best time to visit what would normally be a lovely alpine village, due to a recent major storm event which felled a large number of trees. All the cycling and walking tracks in the forest were closed. We also had trouble with some driving, due to road closures not identified on websites. I enjoyed the thermal pools, despite it being wet at the time. The heating pools kept you warm and there was some shelter in the rain. I was glad to get a good discount on standard entry. It snowed whilst we were there, and it was very scenic seeing the big peaks snow covered in late October. We walked through light snow in the nearby Lewis Pass. We enjoyed some nice food in local cafes and assembled a healthier meal from a trip to the local 4 Square. I would like to come back when the tracks are reopened.

The welcome from Victoria was excellent and the information she supplied was very helpful, we stayed in the different pools a total of six hours until they closed at 7pm, The day was overcast with intervals of sunshine, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and some thing to wrap around you if wind is blowing, excellent place to visit for us oldies or if you have kids of all ages,

The main reason for visiting was the hot pools which did not disappoint. The Forrest also was a highlight with plenty of options for walks. We enjoyed the sculpture walk and even found a fairy house trail nearby. Plenty of places to eat.

Scenic, lots to do and locals are friendly. Really easy to get around the town centre on foot, everything is close together. Recommend stopping at some cellar doors in Waipara on the way through if you are coming from Christchurch. We hiked, went quad biking with Hanmer Springs Attractions, visited the Hanmer Springs Pools, dined out and shopped at various locations.. We even hired a Rocket bike to do a lap of town and get our bearings. We drove up the Hanmer Springs Ski Area but unfortunately, lack of snow and windy weather prevented us having a day of snow sports. Charming town

Hanmer Springs is a lovely little township.

Hanmer Springs is a lovely little township. The hot pools were a great experience with lots of pools available. MK restaurant was beautiful - the food and the experience was amazing. Beautiful clothing and homeware stores. Everything is in walking distance, the well stocked supermarket, and very friendly people.

Lovely modern and comfortable accommodation in park-like grounds. The owners are super nice people who make you feel at home and will go out of their way to be helpful. I liked it so much that I came back for a few more nights. I've stayed in 3 other Hanmer Springs hotels/motels previously and this is my favourite. Also the best value for money.

Alpine Adventure Holiday Park is such a beautiful spot, tranquil location and ideal for families. The amenities are plenty and overall it's a lovely place for a holiday, with everything you could need, whether camping or in a cabin. We spent 1 week here and didn't want to leave.
