Good base for exploring the North Canterbury forest trails, as a short drive away. Sheffield Pie shop was popular. Quiet road was a bonus. Friendly locals in the shops, very chatty. Useful supermarket in village.

Oxford is a pleasant wee country town with one main street and very friendly locals. The dinner at the pub was what you expect from a country pub and the pies at the Sheffield Bakery are another level!! The area is rich with heritage sites and lovely gardens.

Very accommodating staff as we checked in late before 8pm from Hororata glow festival when the Ashley Gorge gate was already closed after 6pm, the staff was very nice and accommodating and understanding as had been arranged prior late arrival.

We went to the Sunday Farmers market. Lots of varied stalls and products. Friendly stall holders. Browsed and bought a few things Family enjoyed getting to visit with the 2 Pet Alpaca's. Worth planning a stop here!

We decided to go to Oxford to stay at the tiny home which is very quirky. Oxford township was only a 5 minute drive away and had a small supermarket and all the basic requirements which a small NZ town has to offer. Also had a petrol station and services a wider farming community.

Oxford Village are fantastic motels. The hosts Susi and Jan were very friendly and welcoming, and the motel was well appointed, warm, spacious, clean, modern, comfortable, and quiet. It is excellent value for money. I liked it so much that I came back a fortnight later and stayed another night

Lovely cottage-immaculately clean & tidy. Very comfortable for our group (2 retired couples). Great welcome from our host. Located just a few kms from Oxford, we enjoyed the quietness of the location. Night sky amazing for stars. Highly recommend staying at Oxford Holiday Cottage.

The kitchen was great, plenty of space and well equipped. The owner was friendly and helpful. Supplies can be bought at the shop at the front. The hostel is in the centre of Oxford with several lovely hikes nearby.

Everything. It may be compact but it’s cosy and comfortable and had everything we needed. Close to Oxford Centre. Lovely to make friends with the chickens too!
