My family and I really loved the hotel and the Family Suite. They did not wish to leave as we feeling so much at home. The location of your hotel is also one of your greatest assets as it is so picturesque and set in a breathtaking location. Te Anau being the gateaway for Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, and Otago is also the icing on the cake. We have a tremendous and fun filled time. Thank you so much. Everything we needed and more with the accommodation we chose. Grocery stores, laundromat if needed. Fuel stations, many restaurant choices. Beautiful lake. Great starting point for @luxe tours to Milford Sound as well as Doubtful sound, Glow Worm Caves. Easy to get around.

Stunning area, Lake is gorgeous, walks along the lake, heaps of accommodation to choose from. Milford Sound, is only 2 hours away. So Te Anau is a great stopping point for accommodation. Manapouri is a short drive away as well. Plus Te Anau is close to some popular Tramps, Kepler, Milford and Routeburn.

Milford is a must if you have come this far, do the cruise, plan for a 3 hour drive each way, so you can stop at Mirror lakes and all the viewpoints, its best when it's raining, but it's truly beautiful with a light bit of snow.

Being the gateway to Milford sound and Doubtful Sound makes Te Anau an ideal place to Stay. The Glowworm trip was an added bonus and well worth the visit. We did go to the Movie theater for a drink and meal and movie and you could take your drinks into the theater sitting on very comfortable large seats. There many walks around Te Anau area, we opted for the Te Anau walk around the lake to the Control gates, A short walk to Lake Mistletoe and the Lake Gunn Nature Walk nad Mirrir lake walks both needing some time to drive to the track starting points. We hired some bikes to explore fantastic trails to well worth the effort.

October. We stayed at Te Anau 2 nights. It's a great little town ,very pretty with tulips and rhododendrons flowering. Middle day we drove to Milford Sound and back . This definitely is a 2hr drive each way . Would be more in busy times due to traffic or if very wet. If you don't travel to Fjordlands region you are missing a lot! After checkout we then drove to Manapouri 15 mins away-this is the departure point- as we had an overnight stay booked on The Navigator in Doubtful Sound - Definitely recommend this.

A very pretty little town on Lake Te Anau, with the snow covered mountains of Fiorland National Park as the back drop. Plenty of eateries many right on the lake. Supermarkets and specialty shops. Beautiful walks. Hiking trails if you're looking for that. Jaw droppingly beautiful scenery everywhere. A 2 hour drive to Milford Sound or take a bus tour. Tours from Queenstown stop off in Te Anau to collect passengers & drop back on return trip. This was what we did and it was so much easier than travelling all the way from Queenstown. Te Anau is a nice and worthwhile drive from Invercargill. We just loved Te Anau. It was all and more that I'd hoped for!

Great comfortable super clean and tidy motel , 5 minute walk to lake. Big room, plenty of space for me and my 13 year old with a lounge area. Very warm and cozy, heater was on when we arrived. Electric blankets appreciated for cold Te Anau nights!Parking at the door. Lovely shower pressure! Nice little kitchen area. We took a bus tour to Milford Sound from there. Staff nice and friendly. Would definitely stay again!
