I liked the staff a lot, super nice! Also the sauna and hot pool are just amazing. The rooms are spacey and very comfortable. Lastly me and my girlfriend are vegan and we felt like the cooking staff really went out of the box to suit our eating preferences.

After 15 years working in hospitality, staying in La Terraza Suite and being welcomed by Victor Hugo and his family reminded me what true hospitality is all about—making people feel completely at home, full stop. What initially drew me in was the high rating and a comment about the incredibly comfortable beds and pillows. But what I found went far beyond that. Every detail was thoughtful, communication was fast and attentive, and somehow my needs were met before I even voiced them. I came for the waves, and they delivered. Hugo even arranged a boat to take us out, so we didn’t have to paddle—like something out of a dream. The neighborhood has everything you might need: a bakery, restaurants, pharmacy, supermarket—all just around the corner. And being slightly outside the main tourist zone let me experience a bit of local life too. I only had five nights and 6 days here, but I’m already leaving my surfboard behind—because I know I’ll be coming back, and next time, for much longer. Gracias por todo! – Benny

Titi was the most incredible host. We had to leave early for a family emergency, and he was so helpful, kind and understanding. He also sorted us out with board rentals and wetsuits upon arrival and helped us organise a taxi to and from the bus station/airport. The location was amazing. Directly across from the beach and surf break. Could watch the waves from the balcony all day. The kitchen was well equipped and the whole home stay was always clean! We wish we could have stayed longer and would definitely stay here again.

The village doesn't offer much, but that's part of its charm...

The village doesn't offer much, but that's part of its charm. It also doesn't need to offer more than the access to that beautiful long long wave... There is no commercialization of the surf scene at all. No surf equipment to buy, but also no t-shirts, hoodies, caps, beanies, etc. For me it was actually a problem, as I was short on some clothes and couldn't find a place to buy them in the village. When you're done surfing, there isn't much to do around, but you can always chill with a book or hang out in the hotel and meet interesting people.

Interesting place.

Interesting place. I visited in December just before Christmas so it was super quiet. I wasn’t sure about the place at first but after a day on the beach I knew I could stay there much longer. We extended our stay and enjoyed the great food, relax and walks on the beach. Hope, I will return one day.

Puerto chicama is a very nice and laid back town.

Puerto chicama is a very nice and laid back town. The beach is very well maintained. It has a nice boulevards along the beach with some cool areas to sit and chill. Of course the waves a beautiful to see and the sunset is amazing. People are really nice and food is amazing. There are nice colorful houses and promenades. Very well worth the visit!

Our main goal for this trip was to surf one of the world's longest waves, 4km, when the swell was right! And it was… It's a spot I mainly recommend for surfing, foiling, etc… for beach surfing, I think there are better spots!

It's a beautiful beach! Perfect for getting away from Lima.

It's a beautiful beach! Perfect for getting away from Lima. The restaurants right on the beachfront didn't impress me, but there are some great places to eat near the district center. It's very easy to get around because it's small and very safe.

Chicama is great for those who want to surf, enjoy natural...

Chicama is great for those who want to surf, enjoy natural beauty, and eat typical dishes at a good price; around 30 soles for two people is enough for a good meal. Ideally, stay close to the peak of the waves, the best part of town, as well as close to the surf spot.
