FAQs about hotels in Manila

The City of Our Affections

With a rich mix of influences from Indians, Chinese, Spanish and Americans, Manila is the vibrant capital of the Philippines and its cultural and economic centre. Thanks to the trade with Latin America during the three centuries of Spanish colonisation, Manila became an important city, known as the ‘Pearl of Orient’.

Don’t miss a visit to the Spanish remains in the Intramuros district. Important landmarks in the area are the Malacañan Palace, the City Hall, and the Manila Cathedral.

Rizal Park is a national icon, while the Baywalk promenade is great for enjoying the well-known city sunsets. Ermita and Malate districts are famous for the nightlife, trendy shopping and restaurants, as well as for some luxury Manila hotels. Between the promenade and the districts, its easy to see why Filipinos call Manila, “The City of Our Affections” where the people's love affairs with fashion, music, entertainment and sheer fun are on bright and beautiful display.

Divisoria is a traditional district for local shopping, bargains and typical food. Binondo is the oldest Chinatown in the world.

For hotels in Manila near the airport, Ninoy Aquino International Airport is not far from Makati City, where a second cluster of hotels are located.

Yeah, we enjoyed our short stay in Manila.

Yeah, we enjoyed our short stay in Manila. Truly, it has already become a shopping destination in the world. There are soo many best buy items, all the foods that you can think of are already there. All you need it to save a lot of funds through the year so you can enjoy and make the most of your stay in Manila.

Take away the poverty, people are kind and respectful.

Take away the poverty, people are kind and respectful. Obviously you still have to keep your guard up still, no matter where you are. Dress like the locals and don't stand out, less of a target is better. The sights and experiences are nothing like what you would get in most places. Just explore with common sense and practical thinking, most important is be respectful and kind, it will go a long way. You will have a blast.

Manila is a crazy place. Traffic is really bad.

Manila is a crazy place. Traffic is really bad. Always give yourself extra travel time to your destination. Nearly guarantee you will get stuck in traffic. Grab is always the best options for travel. Very reasonably priced as well. Accommodation was very close to MOA so there were plenty of places to eat and relax. It was Christmas time when I was there, so it was busy everywhere.

Metro Manila is incredibly diverse and caters to all...

Metro Manila is incredibly diverse and caters to all preferences. You can live the urban life Filipino style, or stay in a more luxurious, tourist-focussed area like BGC or Makati. The greater Metro Manila is a shopper's and foodie paradise, with plenty of high quality activities such as theatres, cinemas, traditional and interactive museums and more. The traffic can be extremely heavy though, so allow more time than you'd expect. Use Grab (it's like Uber) and avoid taxis.

Weather was lovely. People are friendly. Lots to see but too little time to see and enjoy. Traffic is horrendous but taxis are easy way to get around. Malls are massive and fabulous, the look like town centres.

Traffic but I know it is common.

Traffic but I know it is common. Some places are very dirty, water is practically a chlorine taste. But where I stayed was empressive. Marshall’s with big guns are all visible down Newport World Resort. Very clean, and very safe. And Roxas boulevard is amazingly beautiful. So stay where the rich and glitz shops and you won’t see the rest of the not so pretty scenes.
