A wonderful hotel in an excellent area of the city, very central, modern, and with stunning design. The price during the period I booked, with the beautiful Christmas market in the city open, was truly unbeatable.

The hotel blew us away. We were exhausted from a rough morning leaving Stockholm and arrived at the hotel early to leave our bags and wait till check-in time, however the front desk staff advised us that our room was ready and we could check in early. I have never in all my travels been given this kind of generous service and we appreciated it so much. The pool, steam room and sauna was so good and really spacious. I also had a spa treatment that was out of this world. Nothing disappointed. The breakfast was fantastic I only wish we could have stayed for dinner too.

FAQs about hotels in Gdańsk

Charming Architecture And a Breath of History

Called the Amber Capital of the World, Gdańsk is the major shipping seaport and the most beautiful city along the Polish Baltic coast. It has everything a city of this scale needs: a fascinating history, great architecture and a friendly atmosphere!

Also known as Danzig due to its complex past with periods of Polish, German and self-rule, the city is part of the Tricity urban area together with the port city of Gdynia and the popular spa town, Sopot. It’s also a birthplace of the world-famous Solidarity movement, which helped to bring down the Communist rule in Poland initiating the end of the Cold War era.

Its charming buildings were rebuilt in a historical style after the near-complete destruction during the World War II. The colourful town houses of the Old Town can be admired by boat on the Motlawa River or enjoyed while strolling along the popular Long Street and Long Market.

While in Gdańsk, make sure you visit the 15th-century St Mary’s Church, the largest brick church in Europe, and you make a wish at the Neptune Fountain, the city’s patron. While in town, try the legendary local Goldwasser liqueur with 22 karat gold flakes!

Whether you reach Gdańsk by train or plane, Booking.com offers a variety of accommodation near the Lech Walesa Airport, the picturesque Old Town or the general city centre.

There's a tiny museum called Museum of DejaVu, it's just...

There's a tiny museum called Museum of DejaVu, it's just outside Old Town centre. A place full of illusions. Although small, it's perfectly formed and well worth the detour. You can currently find it on 18 Dlugie Ogrody (that's the address). It does look like it's an old corner shop converted to a mini museum, but don't be fooled, if you like the film The Illusionist - then GO, you won't regret it. Look out for local cafe / bar places that are called Bar Mleczny - like the one I found on Stagiewna street. The staff rarely speak English, the menu is all in Polish - but these are the places where you get proper Polish food, and often at 30% less or more than your tourist restaurant spots. Don't be put off by the look or lack of English. Just point and eat, you won't be disappointed. These places cater to local workers who want a home-cooked meal whilst on the job. When visiting the Amber museum, go and play in the 'test' exhibits first - they're just to the right of reception desk, where you can test your knowledge of Amber and spot the real one among a host of fake ones. It's part of the overall museum, and lots of people skip this little part, but it's actually really fun. I managed to get 2 out of 14 correct. Oops. Take a walk on the less walked streets. Gdansk architecture is beautiful, and there's so much more to see when you step away from the central tourist route. There's more to Gdansk than just winter Christmas market. Go in the summer, visit the lake country, and visit Malbork - the largest Tutonic Knights castle in Europe. The largest red-brick castle anywhere.

We really enjoyed our stay here, didn’t have much planned before hand except the Christmas market so we ran out of things to do quickly even if we only stayed for a few days. We will visit when it’s summer to do some more touring! We highly recommend visiting Gdańsk.

Solidarity and WW2 museums both excellent.

Solidarity and WW2 museums both excellent. Former is quite tiring as not many places to sit and rest . Both take at least 3 hours to do properly. Style of buildings fully lived up to expectation and interesting to see how new buildings blend in. Couple of restaurants good quality and value

Gdansk is a really nice city, especially in late November / December when the Christmas markets are underway. Lots of very nice restaurants and the food is excellent. Easy to get around on foot - muffle up well as it gets chilly. Lots of interesting things to go and see, especially the World War 2 museum - leave plenty time for that one. Some lovely coffee shops and pubs too with nice Polish beers and craft beers.

Nice location, beautiful xmas markets & decorations.

Nice location, beautiful xmas markets & decorations. Many restaurants and coffee shops. We visited only city center a saw just a piece of the city on our way from and to the airport. Did not see coast area. Center is nice and definitely worth the visit, rest of the city seems to be basically same as any other city. During December on Sunday so many people everywhere in the centre, queue for each restaurant, attraction, everything - next time would choose different time, maybe Mon-Fri. Prices higher average. Train ticket from the Airport about 13zl, tram ticket - one ride - 4,8zl, food in bar mleczny about 60zl.

An easy city to navigate round, plenty of taxis if required. Very good and varied restaurants and prices were very reasonable. This review was based on a December trip to take in Gdansk Xmas Market which was exceptional, however a summer visit would be equally worthwhile.

We had an excellent stay here at Easter. The hotel was in a great location to explore the old town. The hotel was clean and our room was a great size and overlooked the river. The breakfast was fantastic and such a great selection of foods. The spa looked lovely, even though we didn't stop for treatments but the whole place was so clean and staff so friendly. We also did their boat trip which was very reasonable price and we saw loveky views of the city. We will definitely recommend and be returning.

I've been staying at several similar places during my visit in Poland the last week, but this one is the best one by far! Everything is perfect - Great location, extremely clean, fresh, new, comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen, nice staff, good price, luxury feeling. Also possible to store your baggage before or after your stay, and has a beautiful lounge you can rest in. Don't miss out!

The location: The world war 2 museum is one of my favourite buildings, just to look at, and was about a 2 minute walk. 5 minute walk to the train station (which is the best and cheapest way to get to Sopot and Gdynia). 10 minute walk to the old town. The apartment was fully equipped (iron and small board, hairdryer, fridge, washing machine etc.) Plenty of electric sockets.

Really good hotel. We used the spa a lot after long walks through the great city of Gdansk. It took about 5 minutes for us to walk from the hotel to the old town. The train station is very close if you want to use it like for a trip to Sopot, and the great shopping mall Forum is only minutes away.
