For us, the owner Marisa is probably the best hostess we ever encountered. She is so nice and welcoming, it felt like we are a guest in her own home. Besides, she was super open and communicative, and we shared great conversations. On top of all of that she gave us absolutely delightful recommendations for the remainder of our trip.

Beautiful unusual building. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean with a private balcony. Also very qiiet. The outdoor pool with warm spa water and hydro jets was perfect. Restaurant was very good and the breakfast had hot food. Staff very friendly.

I was bikepacking and booked the afternoon of the stay. The manager arranged an excellent evening meal with a local person when I asked about restaurants (there are none) The room was clean and with working quiet air conditioning

We would have liked to linger quite a bit longer in the...

We would have liked to linger quite a bit longer in the countryside which was quiet and relaxing. The castle at Marialva a few minutes drive away is not to be missed and the Archeological Park at Foz Coa a bit further north is definitely well worth a visit.

Barreira is an excellent place for those who enjoy nature...

Barreira is an excellent place for those who enjoy nature and wildlife. Around the village there are several areas of semi-wild fields and forests where I saw various birds such as nightingales, hoopoes and fig tanagers, and even rabbits and a fox. Near Barreira there are also several places of interest, of which I highlight the Faia Brava nature reserve.
