Absolutely fantastic hotel. Relaxation at the highest level. Although not everything was ready in November, we didn’t feel at any point that the hotel was unprepared to host guests (the indoor pool and water park were not yet finished). From the moment we arrived, our comfort and good mood were prioritized. The concierge greeted us with drinks, brought wet face towels, and explained the basic information. We did have ants in our room, but a new room with an ocean view was promptly offered. The rooms are excellent—spacious and fully equipped. Bathrobes, slippers, toiletries, and a stocked minibar were provided. The beds were very comfortable, and the terrace had seating. Everything was impeccably clean! The lounge with gaming consoles, arcade machines, and the kids’ club were all new and ready for use. The hotel is beautifully located and very expansive, which creates a sense of freedom. In November, it was hard to come across other guests around the property. The food was tasty with a good selection, though somewhat repetitive—breakfasts were the same every day. International-quality alcoholic beverages were served, all of very high quality. There are several restaurants, so everyone will find something to their taste. Our favorite was the one by the ocean—Voce. Excellent food, including seafood, grilled dishes, and local delicacies. The biggest highlight of this hotel is its amazing staff: at Voce, Joy and Pandav were exceptional. At the main bar, Diggo made the best drinks, and in the Cocoa café, Vitaly and Linda stood out. It’s impossible to cover everything, but once this hotel fully gets going, it will undoubtedly be top of the top! We will definitely return!

Super clean property with everything you need. They even provided coffee and washing liquids to use the washing machine. A little welcome present for our daughter was the cherry on the pie. It’s a good spot if you want to hike in the east.

Really enjoyed! The hotel is 2star hotel, but we really liked the comfort. Breakfast was fantastic. Location is perfect. Close to main road. Not also beach and ocean view form window. Swimming pool near to the hotel is amazing, water from ocean. A lot of restaurants near by for lunch and dinner. Will obviously recommend the hotel.

Small little harbour front town

Small little harbour front town Variety of small restaurants Highly recommend Celebrantes, do not recommend Aquarium! Beautiful views but not a town for families. Great if you would like to do walking/hiking, the hills are insane and shops are very small, not commercialised and very local All restaurants are seafood orientated, there is a small Pizza takeaway, so be mindful of planning to visit.

Canical may not be for everyone; it's a small, quiet fishing...

Canical may not be for everyone; it's a small, quiet fishing town with an industrial port and rocky beach. The whale museum is excellent and you can walk there from the apartment (we've been before, so not sure it was open this time so do check). The reason we went to stay in Canical was to walk to ponta Sao lorenco which is a short bus journey away. It's a stunning, dramatic walk along the peninsula you see when you land on Madeira. Canical beach would be improved by having wooden pallets to lie on all year round. Northern European tourists are desperate for sunbathing all year round, it's warm enough for us!

Canical has several small bars and many restaurants.

Canical has several small bars and many restaurants. We particularly liked "Tasquinha do Pescador". The beach "Prainha do Canical" is also very beautiful. Two hikes in the area are highly recommended: PR8 Vereda da Ponta de Sao Lourenco and the coastal path from Larano to Canical.

Extremely peaceful, with lovely urban beaches, services available with extended hours, a convenient location with nearby attractions easily accessible by public transport. Mild temperatures of 15-20 degrees Celsius in winter; breathtaking scenery; warm and friendly locals. An excellent place to stay.

Nice place, bigger than I initially thought.

Nice place, bigger than I initially thought. Not too touristy. Good places to eat fresh fish. Bakery centrally located. Beautiful harbor promenade. Interesting harbor. Well situated for hiking the São Lorenzo peninsula.
