It's a great secluded place. The living room and terrace overlook the Douro River. The surrounding vineyard is excellent for a stroll. We were on a family trip, so having comfortable areas (outside and inside) to spend time together was important. The kitchen was well-equipped; there was everything we needed (including ground coffee). You can also ask for an outside BBQ grill. The house has two bedrooms on the ground floor and an extra bed on the mezzanine. There are no curtains in the living room and on the mezzanine, so it is nice to wake up with the rising sun and birds singing. The road leading up to the accommodation becomes narrower and more winding. However, the host recommended the best route for the final stretch. The host is amiable and welcoming. It was a bit unusual for us that we were not given a key to the accommodation. But considering that we were in the middle of nowhere, it did not cause any inconvenience.

The house had everything we could possibly need. The host even left us a basket with local products, which was a great treat. The village is quite quiet (even though it was grape harvest time) and the church bell didn't bother us.

Amazing stay at the location, right in front of the Douro rive! The host was amazing, she came to pick us up at the train station, cooked us a delicious homemade meal and even left us play pool past closing time. The following day she prepared us a delicious breakfast and drove us up to the nearest Miradouro. I cannot recommend this place enough!

It was incredibly clean and light. Very comfortable. The help from a very kind gentleman in the breakfast room with tea in our room( we English!) was over and above his duties whilst the breakfast was superb. Wonderful village on the Douro and wished we could have stayed longer.

The area is super calm, from the place we stayed it takes...

The area is super calm, from the place we stayed it takes about 20 minutes to get to "civilization" e.g. supermarket and restaurants! Therefore it is a great spot to unwind and relax, recharge batteries and read a book while soaking in views of the Douro

Tranquility and close contact with nature!! From visiting the viewpoints, the castle, the boat trip, swimming in the river, kayaking, and the wonderful food. What more do you need to escape to Casa dos Vinhais? 😊
