Casinha dos Avos provided a complement of 2 couples and an additional personal with a very enjoyable stay in a quaint and idyllic location (Escalos the Cima). The location is very close to the city of Castelo Branco, yet private and secluded. The cobblestone paving of the narrow access streets, along with stone walls of the small village homes, made the morning stroll to the local cafe and church a delight.

We booked this apartment at the last minute when other booked apartments suddenly completely lost power. The hostess confirmed the booking instantly and was very welcoming. We are glad we ended up here on our way to Monsanto from Lisbon. This is a spacious, extra-clean, modern apartment with all amenities, freshly renovated, comfortable beds, modern appliances, fully equipped kitchen and air conditioning. We felt at home here.

We booked it because it was the only hotel with a swimming pool in the city, even f it was interior. In the heat of summer, that was needed. We were surprised to discover the exterior swimming pool had opened the week before. And what a swimming pool! An absolutely stunning view, a beautifully conceived pool and exterior area.

Breakfast was excellent. The service staff is attentive, courteous and friendly. The hotel had a restaurant, which saved me from taking care of the problem of lunch and dinner. Most importantly, everything was amazingly delicious. They have an amazing chef and wait staff. The restaurant had pleasant music and a beautiful interior.

Positive points: the pool, the tranquility, the company of...

Positive points: the pool, the tranquility, the company of the dog Mimo, the location, having an entire house to ourselves, the games available, the cleanliness, the books available. The least positive point was that the kitchenette was separated from the rest of the house by a corridor. Conclusion: I recommend it and will certainly return.
