    Beach at Esposende too difficult to swim in due to pepples. Other beaches at Ofir and Apulia excellent. Limited supply of restaurants and limitless supply of banks!!! Surprised by the obvious wealth amongst the Portuguese people with holiday homes here. Very few estrangers. Not for sailors. Good for families. Some surprising sculptures dotted around the esplanade from 1997 one in particular near the San Lorenca fort at Esponsende.

    A very lovely little town, with lots of nice cafes and...

    A very lovely little town, with lots of nice cafes and restuarants to choose from. Especially liked the italian pizzeria in the town square, food was delicious. There were also some nice shops. A museum in the town, and a craft market every 3rd Sunday in the month. A lovely promenade with a children's play park on the front.

    We did not actually go to Esposende.

    We did not actually go to Esposende. As booking.com should be perfectly well aware, our hotel is situated in Ofir which is probably about 5 km away. The nearest town is Fão in respect of which please see comments elsewhere.In any event I have been to Esposende before and it is pleasant enough but not the centre of the universe

    All the good restaurants are outside Esponsende - mainly in Apulia. A nice little hike or short taxi ride. Bridge to Fao needs some TLC, at least if you walk over it. Fantastic views, but the rusty bits on the footpath high above the water are somewhat anxiety-inducing (and I even heard that from experienced Camino walkers ...) Would not walk over a second time ...

    Esposende was one of the best places to stay that we have...

    Esposende was one of the best places to stay that we have had on this trip for the Camino de Santiago. The people that run the hotel are wonderful and very friendly. Everything is very clean and they have a great lounge with a good kitchen to make what you want. I would recommend them and their rooms to anyone going to that area.

    We thought everybody had left town.

    We thought everybody had left town. The whole place was strangely quiet and deserted. We struggled to find an open place to eat. It was early September. A lot of derelict buildings. Just about good enough for a one night Camino stopover.

    Every single thing was beyond perfect. Cristina’s attention to detail and superb design taste made the stay on a par with a classic boutique hotel. The room was a good size with very comfortable bed and a wonderful large bathroom. As for breakfast - a dream picnic basket of delights. Location great, especially for a Peregrino walking the Caminho. As for Suki the dog and Cuckoo the cat. Heaven.

    Amazing location right on the Camino, with everything you could need. Antas is very charming, Raquel is a great host, and the pool and facilities were wonderful. Alexandra, the masseuse on site, is an angel. I would stay again. Just be careful as the location of the guesthouse is a two-hour walk further than the town of Esposende.

    This was a fabulous find directly on the Camino route. We enjoyed the pool at the end of a long walk. The breakfast was great and set us up well for another day of walking. We would recommend this hotel and if back in Portugal would stay here again.
