Food, Fado and Fun in Lisbon

Facing the Tagus River and built on seven hills, charming Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world. It offers unique tram rides, intimate Fado performances, great dining venues and much more.

The city is famous for its districts: the Belém's famous monuments; the Alfama's labyrinthine streets, bars and small shops; and the trendy Alcântara's docks. Lisbon’s most popular nightlife and shopping venues are located in Bairro Alto, while the traditional heart of the city beats rhythmically in the Baixa.

Enjoy a walk in the greenery of Jardim Botânico, admire the architecture of the Jerónimos Monastery or explore Feira da Ladra flea market. The Chiado area serves the city's best traditional Portuguese food. No meal is complete without some famous pastéis de nata!

Getting to the city centre is only a metro or bus ride from Lisbon Portela Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel, a friendly guesthouse or a cosy apartment, Booking.com has plenty of accommodations for your holiday in Lisbon.

If you like being a tourist and gouged like a tourist, Lisbon is great. The airport, however, is awful.. If you visit Portugal, as I have many times, and want to actually experience it, the people and the food, leave Lisbon as soon as you can!

The history of this city is truly remarkable, and we loved visiting the Sao Jorge Castle, Prazeres Cemetery, Aguas Livres Aqueduct, and ESPECIALLY the Museum of Resistance and Liberty while there. The castle and aqueduct offer some breathtaking vistas to enjoy looking over the bustling action, rolling hills, and sea. Between the trains, adorable century-old trams, and taxi-style options it's easy and fun getting around the city. Tons of fun shopping, dining, drinking, and even night markets to enjoy. Great vibes, we'll be back!

The magnificent tile pavers throughout the city were beautiful. I loved Avenue de Libertades, the Chiado district, the Old Town, the riverfront, the old architecture, where preserved, and the many small restaurants offering great food. Everyone we met was incredibly helpful and friendly.

Fantastic city, well worth getting to know.

Fantastic city, well worth getting to know. The Segway Tour was a great way to explore and learn more. The Time Out Markets are a must for a huge variety of food and drinks. Everywhere you look there is a beautiful view and amazing architecture. The metro is great for getting around, though we also walked a lot. Highly recommended.

The city is different from other places we have visited with beautiful traditional tiled buildings. There were plenty of sights but it was pleasant just to wander in the streets. We enjoyed the tile museum. Fado experience was also enjoyable. Excellent food - seafood and pastries were particularly good. Wine was also good and a reasonable price. Good publict transport. We didn't have time to see everything we wanted and the weather was terrible on one of our days so we will have to go back.

Hotel is nice and clean. It's modern..the indoor pool was very expensive to use it was €37 for two people and two swimming hats and it was freezing cold. Location is a bit outside of the main center but its very cheap to get a taxi. Good food is very hard to find in Lisbon. Unless you like seafood you are going to be hungry. Hard rock cafe was probably the best food we found. Lisbon is a nice place very clean and alot of nice buildings and monuments.

We had only a short stop in Lisbon on our way back to Poland from Azores. Paradouro was a great choice - it was close to the airport and to the city centre! Our room for a family of 4 was spacious and very clean. The hotel is located on a 7th floor and we also had a very nice view on the city from the balcony.
