Our stay at Bela Vista was a wonderful experience! From the moment, we walked in and until the moment we checked out, the service and attention to detail was top notch. Our room was spotless and the view was amazing. We relaxed by the pool and the hotel even had their own access to the beach. One of the highlights of our stay was dinner at their Vista restaurant. What an experience! We can’t wait to come back next summer!

Lively Gateway to Western Algarve

The 2nd-largest city in the Portugal region of Algarve after Faro, Portimão is best known for its beach resorts, sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and ochre cliffs. It offers a variety of shopping malls, restaurants, discos and bars. Don’t miss the fresh grilled sardines, a typical local dish.

This city combines the sparkling atmosphere of a big city with a compact size and easy access to the countryside. Alvor has the feeling of a small fishing village, while Praia da Rocha beach is a lively centre full of restaurants, cafés and nightlife.

Every year, Portimão is the stage for the ‘Mundialito de Futebol de Praia’, an international beach football tournament.  Sailing is also an important activity in the area, while the racecourse ‘Autódromo Internacional do Algarve’ has been open in 2008.

Amazing how most people have patience for strangers to go out of their way to help guide us in every day tasks and with smiles. I am truly grateful for the Portuguese people I met in my life. Lots of restaurants, but we preferred to cater for our selves with fresh fruit, veg. and meat. Small shops were sparse to purchase these food ingredients but internet research revealed a couple within 15 min. walk. Public transport use for larger supermarkets and access to the cliff top areas if you want to avoid the steps. Daily bus tickets are available to use on any local route.

Praia de rocha was lively and had a lovely beach and promenade Old town of portimao run down and dilapidated Apartment was well situated for shuttle bus to autodroma (we had come for MotoGP) Great welcome at the boogie bar in Praia de rocha and sikandar tandoori Indian restaurant was fantastic

Amazing beach’s avoid town center even if close to beautiful beaches that are stunning memories of true Algarve but the city itself is very poor , ugly and just a nonsense buildings old to new mixed with no likely or history and cultural care. Outside town center beautiful views , walks and beach’s .

Apart from the beautiful sandy beaches, Portimao is just a bunch of concrete towers and crowds of tourists. If you don't enjoy in a night life, better visit one of the smaller towns on the Algarve coast.

A guesthouse in Portimao. Very spacious room and aircond working very well. The shared bathrooms are clean and somehow almost always available all the time when we were there. No issue of fighting for bathroom. The host kind enough to allow us to store our luggage there while we make a short trip to Benagil. With a car, this is definitely a perfect place to stay in southern portugal given the accessibility to the surrounding. Plenty of parking space available in front of the guesthouse.

Perfectly located apartment. The vau beach is 5 minutes walk away and is one of the best beaches in the area. Grocery store and restaurants nearby. Portimao is an ideal base for excursions. Free parking was always available in front of the house. The apartment is clean and very nice. Thank you!

Just okay. Definitely not a 5 star hotel, if they would have advertised as a 4 star hotel then I would have given them maximum points. I generally felt like they fulfilled the lowest standard of a 5 star hotel and did not put any more effort into taking bigger steps to improve themselves

The hotel is big and beautiful. It is next to marina and beach Praia Da Rocha. The room is big and the bed is comfort. The breakfast is delicious and lots of choice. The staffs are friendly and helpful. The price is reasonable. I will stay this hotel again if next time to Portimao.
