Not a city worth visiting, beautiful from a distance but not in place. Melides beach was extremely over-advertised. It was not possible to swim even though it was mid-July because the beach was sloping, the water was cold and treacherous, a 100-200 meter long section of the beach with 2 lifeguards was there so there was a lot of swimming with great risk.

I didn't like that there were very few restaurants, and they also had restricted hours (most were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and on the other days they were open for 2 hours at lunch and 3 hours in the evening between 7-10 pm) and only one supermarket (not very good).

Pleasant, very calm location.

Pleasant, very calm location. We had lunch at the restaurant in the market, the food was very good. Access to Santiago do Cacém is good; we made the trip from Lisbon and it took us 1 hour and 50 minutes by highway.

It's a good place to relax.

It's a good place to relax. I liked the ruins, the Historic Center, the Windmill, and the restaurants. We went to Sines and Costa de Santo André/Lagoa. Praia das Areias Brancas (White Sands Beach). It's very easy to get around in Santiago do Cacém.

Being integrated into the environment and with the local people. Fascinating old architecture, with very narrow streets on the steep, historic hill. Having our own car to navigate the alleyways provided us with unique moments.

I spent little time in Santiago do Cacém, but from my experience I can say that it has good restaurants and taverns to eat at (good, homemade food) and there's something to see like the castle and the cemetery. It's a good place to stop between the Algarve and the North of Portugal and is about 17km from the beach.

Ana & Mario were great hosts and went out of their way to meet all our needs and make our stay excellent. Their home was immaculate and the location was the most peaceful and quiet we have enjoyed in Portugal with an amazing view of the valley and city of Santiago do Cacem. We would definitely come again.

We received an incredibly warm welcome and all our expectations were met. We chose to eat at the hotel and enjoyed excellent local food cooked brilliantly. Breakfast was also delicious. Friendly dogs an added bonus!!

Excellent hotel in Santiago Do Cacem. We had a problem with a lost passport and the staff could not have been more helpful in resolving the problem- outstanding service. Very good breakfast also.
