The room seems to have recently been recently refurbished. Everything looks new. The hostess was very friendly and spoke good English. She was very kind and helpful. The local area is very pretty. The river Nera is nearby, with some nice walks to enjoy.

It is located close to the main sightseeing spots: Șușara Watterfall, only 1,5 h on foot from Casa Montana; the Nera Monastry; the entrance to the Natural Park, where you can go to Beușnița Waterfall and Lacul Ochiul Beiului, La Tunele; Nerei Gorges is also close by; when entering the small town there is also a spot where you can bathe. It is quiet; you can hear the birds sing; there are flowers and a fig tree; you can even see the stary sky at night too a certain extent; There is also a common kitchen that you can use to prepare a meal The host offers both breakfast and lunch / dinner. We only had the lunch / dinner, which was very tasy. A home cookes traditional dish: soup, main course and desert. Very friendly and helpful staff

The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable. The food in the restaurant is excellent. The staff is more than friendly. The bank is right next door, if you want to exchange money, the commission is lower than at the ATM, and there are exchange offices nearby. The bakery is 10 meters from the building, the food is always fresh. Lidl is also nearby. If my trip takes me this way again, I would choose Hotel Condor again.

The new staff from Sri Lanka was very kind and even accommodated my wish to sample some Sri Lankan dishes. Since I am a big fan of Asian cuisine and very rarely able to find genuine asian cooking in Romania, this was a very pleasant surprise. They were wonderful cooks.

First things first, the area has stunning natural scenery...

First things first, the area has stunning natural scenery and great hikes, which is why most people visit. They are the good things. Now, what you need to be aware of--there is literally no provision is either Sasca Romana or Sasca Montana in the evening for tourists, no bars, restaurants etc unless you want to visit another guest house(s) restaurant. There are also no shops of any size so make sure to pack everything you need. Additionally the roads are some of the worst I have ever been on (August/September 2024) and some are impassable unless you have a 4*4 You'll need to pay for parking and entry to the the park at any of the major entry points and make sure you wear sensible boots and take plenty of water.

Best place to be for hiking in Cheile Nerei.

Best place to be for hiking in Cheile Nerei. You can access several iconic trails from here and easily drive in other places in the area for other hiking options but the offer directly from Sasca Romana is quite significant for a few days of stay.
