We were driving late and decided to stop spontaneously at this hotel — everything went very smoothly! We called the hotel at 11 PM to ask if it was possible to book a room and check in around midnight. We made the booking through Booking.com, and by the time we arrived, everything was ready for us. A very friendly and helpful lady welcomed us and checked us in quickly. We had our dog with us (20 euros per night), and usually, pet-friendly rooms are not as nice as regular ones — but this time we were pleasantly surprised! The room was spacious, very clean, and well-organized. And the best part — something we’ve never seen before — the hotel had prepared a dog bed, a bowl, treats, and even a poop bag! It was such a thoughtful touch — both we and our dog were really happy. The room was simple but nicely arranged, with a clean and minimalist design. We really liked it. Breakfast was also excellent — one of the best we've had in hotels! Another great bonus: there's a large parking area right across from the hotel entrance, and it's three times cheaper than the hotel’s own parking. You can also stop for 15 minutes right in front of the entrance, which is very convenient when traveling with kids and luggage.

We liked the helpful staff at the reception desk as well as the staff at the kitchen. We got plenty of information about bicycle tours around Karlstad and flyers and maps we could use for our tour. The breakfast was enough and staff always paid attention that we get served everything. The rooms were spacious, modern and very clean. We could park our car and bicycles for free in front of the room. The parking lot is a big plus. We hope to return there again.

The breakfast was the best we've had in years. Variety was very good, but most of all, the taste was great. Everybody in the staff was friendly and professional. Hotel's restaurant is also top notch. And goes without saying, it was clean. Location is also great.

The Lars Lerin art gallery has beautiful paintings of Swedish landscapes by him. Boat trips from Innre Hamn (Inner Harbour) take you on trips out to islands and around town on the river for the price of a bus fare. Only in the summer months though. Walk along the river for beautiful views, see the old church, town hall etc. Plenty of cafes and restaurants especially around the town square. Have a coffee on the Stadshotell roof terrace with lovely views across the river.

Second visit to Karlstad and both times have been too short.

Second visit to Karlstad and both times have been too short. There is a lot to see, especially around the cultural area, including the Värmlands Museum and Sandgrund Lars Lerin. And pleasant strolls along the river and canals.

Karlstad is the biggest little city in Sweden and a joy to...

Karlstad is the biggest little city in Sweden and a joy to visit. What other city with <100,000 population even has its own opera house and cathedral? The lakeside setting where Klarälven meets Lake Vänern is gorgeous. There's lots to see and do within the city, even as it is very human-sized and walkable.

Absolutely chill out place. Quiet area, beautiful walks around, perfect facility, close to beach, useful reception with convenient shop, lovely cute cottage with everything what you need for a stay. Very good atmosphere….

A small-big town with many cozy coffee places and great restaurants. The architecture is beautiful and the town is built in a comfortable way so you get to be in many parks and river along with shopping centers and places to eat. The people of the town were friendly and helpful which was really nice.

Adequately furnished and well equipped apartment, suitable for longer stays. Kept very clean. Laundry room in the basement. Pleasant location in residential area not far from the centre - if you are carrying luggage from the train/bus station, a couple of bus lines stop nearby. The house has a garden with some seating. Great value for money in Karlstad.
