I'm impressed with Ajdovščina. Well-maintained old town center, with cute cafes and exposed old castle ruins. Fantastic. They really have great cultural programs, so I'll definitely come back. Not to mention the beautiful nature, e.g. the source of the Hubelj waterfall and the local taverns with homemade food. Incredible.

It's a town with many supermarkets that also sell local...

It's a town with many supermarkets that also sell local produce. There are places to eat pizza, some of which are good, as well as pubs and small inns serving delicious food. It's a great starting point for visiting many nearby destinations. It's easily accessible via the highway that connects to the Venice-Gorizia motorway.

The old town center – or rather, the relatively few old...

The old town center – or rather, the relatively few old walls that are still visible – is nothing special. The place is also quite rural and quiet. The most interesting thing was a short hike (about 2 hours round trip) to the source of the Hubeli River; along the way there is also some information about former industrial sites.

Very quiet and relaxing! Perfect for cyclists or hikers! Otherwise, not much going on in the area and not many sights to see! Not a tourist area with extended opening hours or anything like that! Few restaurants nearby! The waterfall at Hublj and the hiking trail are really cool! The family is super nice!

Ajdovscina is a small town with a history dating back to Roman times. It's an excellent base for exploring the attractions of western Slovenia. It's close to the highway leading to Nova Gorica, Ljubljana, and the sea.

Very comfortable ground floor apartment located right on the banks of the Vipava river. Nice location which felt rural but in reality was only 5-10 minutes drive from Ajdovščina and all its facilities. The apartment is an excellent base not only for exploring the surrounding Vipava valley but also coastal places such as Piran with its Venetian architecture and the Italian city of Trieste. If you're an angler the location doesn't get much better with the Vipava literally just across the road. Highly recommended!

Location was in a village about 2 miles from the centre of town - an easy walk (or drive). Fields of hay being bailed around you. Filed of goats opposite. Church bells ring the quarter hours. Bats at night. A rustic idyll. Good views of the valley, looking across the fields towards the small town (Ajdovščina). Nice stay.

The resisence is well-equipped, exqusitely furnished and the rooms are spacious and comfy. It's a few minutes' drive from Ajdovscina and Vipava but you can easly hike or ride your way to the nearest farms and wineries. Also, wifi is super-fast.
