I have to say, that this stay was really the best one I ever experience! Perfect location (in the center) so you have all the restaurants, ice cream shops etc. really close. The rivers are really close. What was our best experience? the owners were really great and helpful with everything. We spent just one night at Hiša Planica but were welcomed like family by the host. She showed us the apartment, gave hiking hints in the neighbourhood and offered us a refreshing home made lemonade. The next morning we were offered home-made pancakes for breakfast. The apartment was comfortable, with all necessary stuff. A very nice detail left us in awe: a blanket shaped as heart on our bed :) This was a truly memorable experience on the last day of our 10-day holidays.

Kobarid is a nice little town situated on Soča river between Tolmin and Bovec. There are numerous possibilities of outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, paragliding, kayaking or simply taking a dip in stunningly turquoise Soča. Short drive to Nadiža river which is also beautiful. Kozjak waterfall and hanging bridges are obligatory to visit.

Kobarid is a very charming place, ideal for an active vacation. However, there aren’t many cycling routes separate from the main road, which can sometimes feel inconvenient or less safe. Compared to other nearby towns, Kobarid is quite small.

Kobarid is a nice town by the river Soca with only cca 1000...

Kobarid is a nice town by the river Soca with only cca 1000 inhabitants, but as a regional center the town serves a cca 5000 heads strong community. Worth to visit the Kobarski Muzej (WWI museum), the town center with the church, restaurants and very very good ice cream. Do not miss to climb up to the church and Italian monument, check out the Napoleonov most (Napoleon's bridge) and the Slap Kozjak (Kozjak waterfall). These are all accessible on foot. You can also take a tour following a marked hiking trail, see the beautiful nature, the mountains, the emerald color of the Soca river, historical monuments line WWI trenches and forts all along the river. Enjoy yourselves!

My visit to Kobarid (Caporetto) was primarily to spend time...

My visit to Kobarid (Caporetto) was primarily to spend time in its superb war museum and the WWI open air museum on the Kolovrat 15 kms to the east. As mid-September is classed as 'out-of-season' getting to the latter proved difficult (no public transport out of season!) but with the kindness of strangers - the people of Kobarid - I was able to make it there. The scenery in this part of Slovenia is spectacularly beautiful, the people of Kobarid warm, helpful and friendly. I hope to go back some day.

Kobarid is great for hiking.

Kobarid is great for hiking. Unfortunately I was there when it was raining for days and didn't dare to do longer hikes. There is a great museum in town, but after having seen that, there's not much to do when the weather is bad. When the weather is nice, there are many great hiking routes from and to here, and buses also help you get back from Tolmin or Bovec. Unfortunately some other non-round hikes end in Magozd or Dreznica and there is no public transportation to get back to Kobarid. I would definitely recommend the town for 1-2 days to pass through, see the Napoleon bridge and Kozjak waterfall, and check the museum!

Kobarid was an excellent base to see sites around the Soca valley. We particularly enjoyed the pass to Predil with its ruined fortresses, the Boka waterfall, the WW1 museum, the Italian mausoleum, and the trench lines at Kolovrat.

Very nice apartment on the ground floor of a house in the suburbs of Kobarid but within easy walking distance of the town centre. It was well equipped and very clean. We had 2 sofas to relax on and 2 bathrooms with good showers and plentiful hot water. We slept well as it was really quiet. We didn't meet Dolores, our host, but she messaged to check everything was OK. Kobarid is a nice small town with interesting walks, a museum, and a few restaurants in the centre.

We had a great time staying at the farm for a week in late August/ early September. From Kobarid it’s a few minutes drive up the hill to the house - we really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and the option to go for a hike directly from the apartment. Also during two rainy days, everything was comfortable and we didn’t miss anything around the house. Definitely recommend to see Slovenia’s beautiful nature by staying here!

Small but very functional and clean accommodation with beautiful garden and outdoor terrace near Kobarid (3 min drive). The kitchen is very well equiped, and owner was very responsive and helpful :-) Slovenia is really beautiful, and Kobarid is a good starting point - Slap Kozjak, Tolmin Gorge, Soča and much more!
