We arrived at Hotel Jelka after hiking Stage 5 of the Juliana Trail. This is a difficult stage made more difficult by the extremely poor trail markings and the hour long deluge of rain we endured. Needless to say, we arrived at the Hotel Jelka late (5:30) and bedraggled. We were the only guests in this beautiful space. The manager told us the kitchen was closing at 6 (not sure if that is normal or due to 2 guests) so we hustled into our rooms and back down. He was very gracious in serving us. We had a delicious barley soup with meat and bread and salad. The hotel looks like new - all light wood - very Scandinavian in appearance. The beds were comfortable and the shower worked well. We had a very inviting long balcony facing the woods that every room can access. We made an early start the next day for Stage 6 and breakfast was not until 7:30 so the manager made us both a breakfast/lunch bag. This bag contained fruit and yogurt, which we ate there, and a wonderful sandwich that we ate at the viewpoint overlooking the upper Bohinj Valley. It was wonderful - so many thanks! The Hotel Jelka is literally in the woods, just 150 m down the road from the Pokljuka Hotel (formerly the Sport Hotel). Both hotels lie on the road that is the beginning of Stage 6. Pick the Jelka! It is wonderful. We just wished we could have stayed a couple of days.

My stay was absolutely wonderful. From the moment I checked in, I felt warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. The room was not just clean and cozy, but it also offered a stunning view of the mountains that made my stay even more special. The breakfast was delicious, and the on-site restaurant served amazing dishes. I tried the sarma, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had, adding a delightful touch to my experience. I rarely give 10, but this is a 10. This is a hotel right on Lake Bohinj. RIGHT there. I mean, there is nothing closer to the lake (at least not on this side). This is a great staff. By great I mean professional in every way and very helpful. This is simply a divine view from the balcony. This is a very, very unusual format of rooms (we probably got rooms in the new wing where instead of a hall there is glass with a view of the pool). It's literally everything you need in one place. Including the opportunity to drink wine at night. These are simply mind-blowing dinners - very varied and each time sweet and surprising in its own way. This is free parking and paid parking if you are too lazy to go around the hotel. It's REALLY 5 minutes to the ski lift to Vogel. The grocery supermarket around the corner. This is a very quiet, incredibly cozy and kind place.

Very nice rooms, friendly staff, great location just 5 minutes from the lake. Since we came in the winter season, we were able to go to breakfast and to spa at their sister Hotel Bohinj (for €15/entry), which was a really high quality experience.
