FAQs about hotels in Bratislava

Capital with a Small Town Feel

Charming and compact Bratislava is the world’s only capital city bordering 2 countries – Austria and Hungary, all watered by the beautiful River Danube. South is the modern city and a peaceful forest, but the real Bratislava attractions are over Novy most (New Bridge), an impressive structure with an UFO-like pylon. The castle on a rock overlooking the Old Town offers the best views of it. The rock itself contains a Jewish cemetery and a literally underground club.

Opposite is St Martin’s Cathedral, coronation site of past Hungarian kings. The cobbled streets behind are lined with outdoor restaurants and bars. The city’s speciality is treska, a cold cod salad, washed down with white wine from the nearby Small Carpathian mountains.

The main square is Hlavne namestie, home to pastel-coloured buildings, a 14th-century town hall housing the city museum, and the Bratislava Christmas markets. Hodzovo namestie square features the Peace Earth sculpture and Baroque Grassalkovich Palace, the presidential residence guarded by the Slovak National Guard. Across the park is the Archiepiscopal Palace, seat of the government. All around are many Bratislava hotels, B&Bs and apartments available on Booking.com.

Before heading to Bratislava Airport, visit Kamzìk TV tower whose revolving restaurant and observation deck offer magnificent city views.

Stare mesto, is the best location. River cruise are nice. Mostly we used app called BOLT (very similar to Uber in UK), as some of the attractions were far apart. Plenty to do and see, thinking to go back to explore better.

The old town is attractive and small enough to explore on foot. There is a wide choice of cafes, restaurants and bars, as well as the usual tourist gift shops. Crossing the foot bridge and walking along the Danube is very pleasant, particularly in autumn with trees in splendid colours. The Bratislava Card represents very good value if you are interested in visiting some of the museums and other attractions.

Bratislava is a small but charming city that’s perfect for a short getaway. The historic centre is really pleasant — full of cafés, restaurants, and little bars where you can just sit, relax, and take in the atmosphere. It’s a very walkable city, easy to explore without needing public transport, and you can comfortably see most of the main sights in a weekend. Overall, it’s not a place that overwhelms you with size or pace — and that’s part of its charm. It’s calm, compact, and ideal if you’re looking for a relaxed city break with good food, friendly vibes, and plenty of cozy spots to enjoy.

I love Bratislava so much. There are so many nice places.

I love Bratislava so much. There are so many nice places. Beautiful buildings, very green. People are very friendly. Public transport is amazing. Everything is open even on national holidays. I ate mostly local food and had pizza once which was beyond expectations.

Easy to walk around the pleasant old town.

Easy to walk around the pleasant old town. We can recommend Koliba Kamzik at Michalska 16 where we had a delicious Slovak dinner for my husband's birthday. We took the 1h 15m city tour in the old fashioned style bus from in front of the National Theatre and found it very interesting and informative. If you have time, you may wish to go back to the castle as the break in the tour there is only 20 minutes.

I would prefer to go first to Bratislava instead to Prague.

I would prefer to go first to Bratislava instead to Prague. Because Prague was wonderful city and gently saved it, old outside and modern inside. Otherwise, Bratislava was nice city but it was a little wierd for me to see old damaged walls, and some graffitis around, close to nice old places, historical monuments, beautiful views to the Danube, and Nazi destruction and sadness episodes. Mix of senses, mix of views.

This is a great budget hotel option for exploring Bratislava. We stayed in a double room with terrace. The room was spacious, light and airy. The large bed was comfortable but we did have to request extra pillows. The view from the terrace was wonderful and would be lovely in the warmer months to sit out and enjoy the sunset. There is quite a lot of refurbishment going on in the hotel but we weren't disturbed by this during our stay. The location is excellent, with a very short walk to the old town, bars & restaurants.

We loved Bratislava and found this hotel was ideally situated for exploring the centre. The old town with its sites and restaurants begins at the door, as does the way to the castle. We took a walking tour that also began at the square in front of the hotel. Perfect. The hotel breakfast was also excellent and the staff helpful and friendly. Hotel parking was very convenient to have.

The staff was amazing, they helped us plan our time in Bratislava to enjoy every second, whether it was what to visit, how to move around the city, what and where to eat, and hidden spots for the evening. The hotel was right in the centre of the old town, but still only 2 minutes walk from the closest Uber/Bolt pick-up location. The room was great, nothing to complain about.

Nice hotel, a little bit far from old town, but there is a tram station near. Hotel itself looks fine, we are family of four, so they gave us two connected rooms at the same price, which was very generous.Breakfast was nice.we had good time in Bratislava, not a big town but interesting.

The hotel is located a 15-20 min walk from old town but in a surprisingly quiet neighborhood. The surrounding area is clean and beautiful, I could see the Bratislava Castle from my room. The breakfast is amazing and the staff very friendly and helpful.
