We loved everything about our stay in Grand hotel Stary Smokovec. It was not our first time there, but it was the first time with our toddler and she had the absolute best time! The staff was super kind and helped us with everything we needed. They also made special arrangement regarding our room - extra bed for no fee and bathrobe and cute slippers for our little one. The hotel is simply beautiful and has great amenities - The spa and wellness is very clean, well organised and super pleasant. Children can play in huge kids room close to the bar so the parents can enjoy coffee, drinks and even food while watching their children having great time. The restaurant was awesome - tasty food and many many options for breakfast, lunch and amazing a la carte dinner. Even special request of our daughter for a glass of milk in the evening was fulfilled! The hotel staff is a team of great professionals. The fact that there is private parking right in front of the hotel and the location of this hotel being in the center of Stary Smokovec is obviously a huge +. You can choose from variety of rooms, we had a junior suite and it was very spacious and quiet with a view from one side on Lomnicky stit and from the other on the sunrise above Poprad. We will definitely come back again!

Greenwood hotel has spacious, clean rooms and a fantastic breakfast. It's pet friendly and in a prime location. I have nothing to complain about and would book a stay there again in a heartbeat.

Cozy, beautifully restored hotel. Good location in Smokovec, everything is in walking distance. Quiet. Very close to the tram stop that takes you to Strbske Pleso or Tatranska Lomnica. 5-10 minutes to the funicular going to Hrebienok. We did not use the car during our stay. Very pleasant, friendly owners. Great breakfast. We also booked dinners, which were served at two close-by, nice restaurants. We enjoyed the sauna and played the pool. We hope we will come back one day.

Great, quiet location, but at the same time close to the train station, shops, restaurants and hiking routes. It felt like the last house in Stary Smokovec as there was no other buildings behind the Hellene Snow. Parking spaces if you come by car but also very close to the airport, 10-15min by taxi. Amazing mountain view from both sides of the building! Kitchen well equipped, just make sure you get your shopping done early as shops closing around 7 or 8pm and there is just a basic supply of tea or coffee at the apartment. Excellent support from the staff member, thanks for an extra favour! We will definitely be back A&M

Amazing people Peter and his lovely wife, Susane (i hope i said it right). Room is big very well designed and equipped: everything to prepare food with, Netflix in the cozy living room,amazing breakfast and everything is new and we'll decorated. It appears that it's a renovated building. But the main thing is the attitude, explanations, availability of the the lovely hosts. A small example: I needed a pharmacy and asked is it open on weekends? They were willing to go there and assist me... Amazing...

Perfect location for exploring the High Tatra mountains.

Perfect location for exploring the High Tatra mountains. Very close to restaurants and attractions. Our top tips for attractions within half an hour drive from Smokovce: - Bachledova TreeTop walk - Walk around Strbske Lake - Strednica Parking Photo Point. FREE. A hidden gem. Best views of the Tatra Mountains. Walk down to the 2 lakes. - Hrebienok funicular and Ladovy Dom (this was closed for maintenance but we heard great things about it). Top tip for the most overrated and expensive attraction (i.e. not recommended): Mount Lomnicky Stit cable car by Tatranska Lomnica (we got a return ticket to Skalnate Pleso). Best restaurant in Smokovce: Manuel Caffe & Bistro Italian restaurant.

Due to recent property developments, Smokovce are no longer the quaint, picturesque village it used to be. It got more crowded and noisier. Nevertheless, compared to Štrbske Pleso or Tatranska Lomnica, it is a good choice for a holiday in the High Tatras.

Stary Smokovec is a lovely small town along the Electricka.

Stary Smokovec is a lovely small town along the Electricka. Its clean, quiet and lovely. It is a perfect starting point for Slavskovksy Stit hike or through Hrebienok you can have Teryho Chata, Priecna veza, Zbojnicka chata trip within a day. For a post-hike refuel, i warmly suggest to have a Gazda burger in Pizza and Burger Vana. They have a several comfortable seats outside, its quick and tasty. However, dont try to buy grocery after 6, shops are closed in the evening.

The greatest choice I've made.

The greatest choice I've made. It's pretty small, but if you want to escape all the city buzz - it's pure perfection. Lots of greenery, the town is clean and you can easily go hiking from here.

Good starting point for trips to Strbske pleso, Tatranska Lomnica or Hrebienok. I like the dark beer at the tram station buffet. I always have lunch in Bistro Smokovec in the main street, it's a cafeteria style, but very good choice and delicious dishes.

What a lovely town but be aware it is at the base of the...

What a lovely town but be aware it is at the base of the mountains so if like me you live in a flat part of the world then after a few walks around the area your calf muscles are going to feel it haha. Actually this has helped me want to get a little fitter. Most of the shops are selling expensive Ski brands of clothing as you would expect but the Co Op food store is wonderful and you are spoiled for choice when it comes to eating out - with Spitz being our favorite. The funicular is a must, the Grand Hotel has a wellness that can be reserved and the towns train station is right on your doorstep and the trains are comfortable, clean and modern and amazingly cheap.
