From the moment we arrived, the staff were both incredibly friendly and attentive. Our bags were taken to our room and we were given an overview of the facilities and food options. There is free tea, coffee, water and some snacks at the reception kitchen, which is a really nice touch. The room itself… wow. We stayed in one of the lake view cottages and it was an absolute slice of heaven. In the middle of a jam packed busy travel schedule, this was exactly what we needed. The pool area is small but clean and idyllic. We enjoyed catching some rays in the late afternoon and then in the morning before checking out. Only two sunbed, but most of the hotel rooms have private pools so we didn’t find this affected us. The location is prime for the White Temple in particular. They offer free bikes which we used to cycle over for the final hour of opening, which was the perfect time for a quiet visit. We were tempted by the morning but we were too relaxed to get up and leave in the end. I anticipate the morning is even more of a quiet time to visit the temple though. You MUST get the Pad Thai. It was exceptional and different from any others we’ve tried. Definitely had their own twist on the dish which we loved. If you’re looking for a completely unique stay, outside of the tourist areas for one or a few nights, I couldn’t recommend this place enough. A final shoutout to the staff who immediately did a ‘nervous’ of our room after checking out, and returned my partner’s shorts which he’d left. Those are the touches that make all the difference to a stay. Thank you Doowall Hall!

We had an amazing night stay at Above the Clouds in Chiang Rai. Although the owners were away they made sure we had everything we needed and the staff were lovely and went out of their way to help us. Our room was very private and the views of the mountains from the hot tub were stunning. 100% recommend this hotel!

The farm is very spectacular, with a pond made by the owner, and some animals hanging around. We spent a week there, and us and the kids were really happy with the surrounding. But regardless of the place itself, the reason to come is the lovely Nee and Oi who run the place. They are very generous, gentle and loving people. We are grateful for the opportunity to meet them, cook together and share traditions, discuss Budhism, feed the fish, laugh... Thank you!

Staying at Ma Family Coffee Farm for two nights was truly an unforgettable experience that exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the beautiful and gracious Monthira and her husband, who both exuded genuine hospitality and warmth. Monthira's passion for coffee was infectious, and her wealth of knowledge on the subject was truly impressive. She not only shared with me the intricate process of coffee production. I had the opportunity to taste an array of different coffees, each one bursting with unique flavors and aromas. It was a sensory experience like no other, and I left with a newfound appreciation for the art of coffee making. In the evenings, we would gather around a crackling fire, where Monthira and her husband would whip up a delicious feast of eggs and marshmallows. The ambience was cozy and intimate, and it felt like being a part of a close-knit family. The laughter and stories shared around the fire will forever hold a special place in my heart. The accommodations at Ma Family Coffee Farm were nothing short of spectacular. My room was spotlessly clean and tucked away atop the mountain, offering breathtaking views of the lush landscape below. Waking up to the sight of the sun rising over the coffee fields was a truly magical experience. As much as I wished I could have stayed longer, my time at Ma Family Coffee Farm will always be cherished as a highlight of my travels. Great experience at Le Patta Hotel: beautiful spacious room, quiet although right in town and close to night market, parking available and really lovely staff. There was absolutely nothing we did not like about this place and we will stay there again if/when we return to Chiang Rai. The swimming pool is nice and not too small for a city location (= you can do laps). Nice breakfast, mainly asian/thai but with fresh fruits & vegetables, made to order egg dishes and breads you can compose your own western version too. Great value for money.
