A great city to do a border run, particularly if you stay at Fortune Riverview Hotel Chiang Khong - which seems to be the nicest accommodation in the area. We enjoyed our stay here quite a bit and would return.

Chiang Khong, a lovely little town next to the river.
Chiang Khong, a lovely little town next to the river. Views are amazing and the food is good. It is not very big so staying for an extended time may be dull for some. Great for relaxing and quiet. Excellent for walking and/or riding bicycles.

I liked to have riverview.
I liked to have riverview. We had two single beds that we rearranged such that they were mire close to eachother. Not perfect but ok. For one person the bed was too hard, for the other it was good. Was great to be on the (small) balcony to look at the river, but there were no seats.
I used the pool, but at the time of the day the two high building on the side avoided all sunshine to warm up the water. We also had to use our own towels from the room, one per person.
Checkout was fast without checking the room. Few hours after we left, we were in Chiang Rai already, staff called us that they we left behind a watch. They agreed to send it to our home in Chiang Mai. Great service that we really appreciate.

As every other review says, this place is perfect! The owner was waiting for me at the border from Laos, and gave me a free ride to the hotel. He was super friendly and cheery, as was everyone else once we arrived! The rooms/buildings were cute and very well furnished. There is a restaurant next door that serves great food, and breakfast was lovely too. Then the owner again gave a free ride to the bus station and pointed me in the right direction!

What a beautiful resort....so confortable, so quiet, spotless and friendly...honestly you wont find better value in Chiang Khong...the food is also very good at a very reasonnable price..read carefully the .
comments...lot of them mention that they regret they didnt stay more than one night on their way to Laos...I stayed 2 nights and I regret I didnt stay 3 😁

Great little guesthouse apparently the original in Chiang Khong. Good value for money, comfy beds and although on main street rooms are tucked away so doesn’t feel like it. Lovely veranda to watch world go by. Owner very helpful with onward travel and has excellent English. Recommended

Good place, confortable bed. Perfect for one night after crossing Laos border. There is a very convenient 7Eleven in front of the hotel where I could buy dinner, water and a SIM card.

Lovely hotel right on the Mekong. Ahead of doing the luxury slow boat to Luang Prabang, this was an ideal stay for me. Pool and Onsen were great.
