FAQs about hotels in Chiang Mai

The Rose of the North

Surrounded by Thailand’s highest mountains, Chiang Mai is the beloved, idyllic and somewhat mystical capital of the North. With more than 300 temples, it's considered one of the most important cultural centers in the country.

Despite being Thailand's fifth-largest city, Chiang Mai still has a relaxed and laid-back feel. Modernity, trendy shops and boutique hotels haven’t altered much of its picturesque and peaceful atmosphere.

This reputation is partly due to its proximity to lush green areas, mountains like Doi Suthep, and its panoramic Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep temple. The Doi Inthanon National Park is 37 miles away with Thailand’s highest mountain.

Hotels in Chiang Mai’s old city center are a popular choice, with picturesque scenery featuring its moat and older temples. Chiang Mai hotels can also be found around the Chang Klhan Rd, where the famous Night Bazaar takes place.

The city’s nightlife runs along the Loi Kroh Rd, while Ratchadamneon Road hosts the main Sunday night pedestrian market. Don’t forget to buy an umbrella from Bo Sang and eat a bowl of kao soi.

Whether you arrive at Chiang Mai International Airport or come by land from Bangkok, don’t miss "The Rose of the North" deals on Booking.com!

I really love the vibe in Chiang Mai.

I really love the vibe in Chiang Mai. Enjoyed Wat Khang Bann the most. I went for CAD lantern festival, it was incredible experience. Mae Tang Elephant park and clinic was a good place, I watched VDO from the doctor who works to help elephants there, this place takes care of elephants really well. You can do Rafting here and visit long neck tribe in Mea Tang. Mae Khan Pong Village is a must place, you should stay for 1 night. Mae Chiang Dao is the best place to stay during winter Nov-Dec. You will see the fog sea and panorama view (recommend to stay with locals) The food was so amazing, I tried Northern food. The best Khao Soi is Lung Prakit Kad Kom (Recommended by local) It’s difference vibe. I love Phuket but when I came to Chiang Mai, I love here even more.

We loved our stay at The Grand Napat.

We loved our stay at The Grand Napat. It was away from all the business and close enough to walk to a restaurant. The hotel has a restaurant and pool. Staff are very friendly and helpful. There is so much to do in Chiang Mai and around Chiang Mai. We loved the town. We have not had enough time to experience everything.

We spent 4 days in Chiang Mai, came for the lights festival - lifetime experience! We visited beautiful temples in Chiang Rai and national park Doi Ithanon. So we have to come back to see more of this ancient town which we will do with pleasure! Would not recommend to people with mobility issues, temples have a lot of steps.

In the Wild Elephant sanctuary was fantastic and educational, staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the elephants were treating extremely well living in the jungle, the food which came with the experience was delicious Bazaar night market was brilliant, great food and items to purchase, Toom Jungleboy in art created our dogs portrait which we are so happy with and amazed how he made a 3D painting from a 2D photo. We also enjoyed kayaking and caving experience, the local food was awesome. We visited Love pet cafe and feed the Capybara and watched them play together. Night safari was excellent, loved the giraffes sticking their heads in the vehicle to be feed and licking us. We also feed zebras and other animals along the trail

Beautiful Temple in town and fabulous Temple in the mountains. Trip to the elephant sanctuary was a long drive but worth the trip. The night market is a fun walk about. Try the ice-cream rolls, a tasty fun experience. Tuk-Tuk's are very reasonable as are Grab(uber like ). My wife and I highly recommend the Peak Spa. We also really enjoyed Mamma Noi's cooking school. (with a hats off to our guide Nook) Kantoke dinner and show just OK.

Day of exploring with elephant sanctuary with team Yaya, get it on get your guide booking. Art village, carp cafe, French bistro cafe, unnie nails. Just be careful hiring scooters, have travel insurance before you go. We hired scooters from Happy Days, they never told us we need motorbike permit in chiang mai , within 1hr stopped by police with 500 baht fine followed the police to station to pay. Second day we had motorbike accident with my leg injury , the rental bumped us even it was not our fault according to police we paid damage to their bike and for the other guy. Overall soo much good place to explore, day trips to other cities. Next time I be staying for over 2weeks, people are kind and helpful just speak less English.

Excellent breakfast options, great location near night bazaars. Amazingly comfortable beds and spacious rooms. Hugely helpful & friendly staff. Hotel also had bicycles we could take to tour the temples in the old city. The staff also went out of their way for our honeymoon to make it special with treats in our room during our stay and decorations!

The hotel is perfectly located to visit some of the most important places in the old city on foot. It was comfortable, the breakfast was excellent and the pool an added bonus. Best of all were the staff, who were exceptionally friendly and helpful. They were also excellent at suggesting res, things to visit and organising taxis.

The hotel is very clean and comfy. The staff very professional and kind. Breakfasts not so big but enough. The closest vicinity is not so elegant but the hotel is located in a quiet area not far from the Old City and absolutely close to the Walking Street.

Simply great. I wished I could rate Lee Chiang 11/10. The hotel is in the old city, near a very beautiful temple. Breakfast is great, the amenities are good but the best thing is the exceptional service by Kishore and his staff.
