Amazing location far away from the crowds and noise of most of the island, Mai Pen Rai is a rustic and beautiful place to stay. If there is an onshore wind the beach can be a bit wild, but its always beautiful. The bungalow we stayed in was very spacious and had one of the most beautiful bathrooms I've ever seen- built into the naked rock of the cliffs. Unfortunately some of the bungalows are not accessible for people with disabilities due to steep stairs. The road to the beach is absolutely beautiful- about 30 minutes through the mountains and jungles of the island- but I would not recommend it for anyone that is not very confident on a motorbike due to the extreme steepness and curves (you can always tell when someone has done the drive for the first time by the wideness of their eyes at the beach!). There are two restaurants located at the beach, but if you need a convenience store the closest one is a long drive away. There is no cell reception at some of the bungalows- absolutely a selling point for someone trying to escape the rat race for a while. This is a remote location, and is everything a Beach Hotel should be!

The hotel is beautiful and unique, Miel and Alexander are amazing and caring. Help us with everything we needed before we arrived and after we left to make sure we are OK. We were in koh panghan in a few hotels, and by far, this was our best experience!

We had an amazing stay at Homestay Resort Phangan! The location is unbeatable – just a few minutes by scooter to the Phangan Food Court and there’s a supermarket right across the street. You can reach anywhere on the island within 30 minutes. The hosts are incredibly kind and take great care of their guests (and their adorable dogs!). Every day, we received two fresh bottles of water, which was a nice touch. The sunset views from the pool are also stunning – a great spot to relax after a day of exploring. Also, the pillows on the bed were super comfortable – we slept so well! We can definitely recommend this place! A TV would have been a nice addition, but the hosts are very clear about what to expect beforehand, so it wasn’t an issue – just a nice-to-have. Would stay here again!

My husband and I went to koh Phangan to experience the full moon party but didn’t want to stay in it so this hotel was perfect as it was a short drive on a Moto from the festivities. Jodi the owner was super helpful in getting us checked in even though it was late. The resort is as beautiful- right on the beach and just quiet enough. The sat pool party was also very fun. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful beach, charming bungalows set into the rocks...

Beautiful beach, charming bungalows set into the rocks overlooking the beach. an experience getting to your room climbing through the rocks like a scene out of Game of Thrones rooms well kept and clean restaurant offered great food and drinks. The staff were exceptional made you feel warm and welcome. Would recommend staying here.

It's a ghetto now.

It's a ghetto now. It's really shameful how trashed the the whole place is. Motorcycle junk yard, burn pits, trash piles. decrepit buildings,, dog waste, it's a big mess. No effort to rake the beach at all.
