Our stay in the hotel has been amazing, the room was comfortable and very clean, and the hotel is on a walking distance to the main tourist attractions, restaurants and to the Bosforo. The staff has always been super kind and useful at any time, thank you to Fouad, Oguz, Ahmet and Kenan. If we come back to Istanbul, we will surely choose Downtown Sirkeci Hotel again.

Everything is perfect. The hotel is beautiful. It's located in the center of Istanbul , 10 minutes walking from famous Istiklal street, 5 minutes walking from the fancy neighborhood Cihangir, 5 minutes walking from Karakoy and 10 minutes from Galata Tower. It's in a quite neighborhood. Tram station is very close. There is a beautiful park in front. The famous Galata Port is 3 minutes walking from the hotel. The hotel is beautiful and new. Everything is perfect. The staff is amazing. Polite , friendly and they speak many languages. When I arrived there was Mr. Burak Can at the reception. He was very helpful and polite. I definitely recommend this hotel for everyone that plans to visit Istanbul . It's perfect for families and for business people .

We had a wonderful stay here. The room was spotless and very clean. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. They took care of all our requests and gave great recommendations for places to visit. They also arranged a taxi for us to the airport at a very fair price. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Istiklal Street, yet surprisingly quiet at night with no noise from the street. It is also one of the few areas with minimal hills, which made walking around very easy. Public transport options like the bus, tram, and metro are all close by. Breakfast was very good. Just make sure to go early to enjoy everything. I would definitely come back and stay again!

FAQs about hotels in Istanbul

The Best of Asia and Europe

The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendour and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.

Take a stroll through the historic centre or the bustling Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.

If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.

Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for your holiday in Istanbul.

Some taxi drivers in Istanbul are unfortunately very dishonest and take advantage of tourists. My guests spoke Turkish perfectly and could communicate without any problem, but because they were tourists, this driver tried to cheat them. He drove them around for over an hour instead of taking the direct route and overcharged them. I have heard from many people that this is a common problem, especially in busy areas like Taksim. However, the next day, some honest locals helped them use the metro safely and without extra cost. Istanbul needs to ensure tourists can trust taxi drivers, because traveling in a new city should not be stressful or unsafe.

The city is no longer what it used to be.

The city is no longer what it used to be. The taxi drivers are all scammers and make tourists very uncomfortable, even when you book one through Uber, and all major attractions are overpriced. I was disappointed by how dirty and crowded everything was. The mass influx of cheap tourism, the currency crisis, and the influx of refugees made the city feel too overwhelming and chaotic for someone who used to visit Istanbul at its height of beauty. The food, however, never disappoints.

I "heart" Istanbul and have been several times.

I "heart" Istanbul and have been several times. It has everything: ancient; modern; great food; friendly people; interesting sites; And of course, the Bosphorus. My favorite activity in Istanbul is taking the pubilic ferry to differrent stops, getting off and exploring various neighborhoods. I ate lots, but my favorite is Borek and I love to have it in small places, where it is fresh and delicous. I've taken a couple of food tours with Culinary Backstreets that are fun and definitely worth it. With the Tram, Metro, buses and ferries, it's very easy to get around. But, I prefer to walk everywhere possible and get a real feel for the city.

Instanbul is very busy and very dirty to my liking. The sight seeing is beautiful, I did feel that the people there were very rude at most places and very rushing. I believe for me Instanbul is a one and done. By the 2nd full day I wanted to leave back to Dubai.

Istanbul is just overrated. It is full of business.

Istanbul is just overrated. It is full of business. Even when you go to toilet, people make money for letting you in the toilet. People are scamming tourists. Taxi drivers are the worst. They ask for whatever charge they want, will drop you wherever it suits their need, may be 300m away or 400m away. People lie to the tourists. Restaurants are charging for food which we didn’t eat even. Very less people understand english, most of the people are so rude.
