We had a wonderful stay at Konak Asparte in Urfa. The place is exceptionally clean, and the family who runs it is incredibly warm and hospitable. The breakfast is served with love, and it truly feels like you're at home. If we ever visit Urfa again, we would definitely choose to stay here. Highly recommended!

We had a great stay in this beautifully restored house among the winding streets of Sanliurfa. The hostess was extremely welcoming and kind, and a mine of information She offered us a whole day tour of 4 main archaelogical sites around the town, including Gobekli Tepe, at a very reasonable price, which we were pleased to accept. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was lovely. There was no TV, which for us was no problem at all.

The Archaeological Museum and Mosaic Museum, both available...

The Archaeological Museum and Mosaic Museum, both available on the same ticket, are exceptional. It is NOT TRUE that they are closed for repair at the moment (October 2025). There are other sights around the town, such as the Fish Ponds and some Roman graves, but these seem to appeal to domestic tourists most. The town is rapidly expanding and there are building sites around the outskirts, but the old town is charming, and there are guest houses and music venues held in the old buildings. The music event we went to consisted of Traditional live music from the region, a local banquet and the dancing was done by the audience. Most people were Turkish, very friendly and let their hair down, in spite of the 'no alcohol' rule! It isn't cheap though! The main reason we came was to see Gobeklitepi and other such sites scattered around Sanliurfa. They were more touristy than we'd realised, but still worth visiting .

If you love Mesopotamia, this is it!

If you love Mesopotamia, this is it! The place where Abraham, Rahela and others were walking around. Close to Harran, Gobeklitepe and Karahantepe, the oldest temples and cities in the world. In Sanliurfa is Archeological Museum which has the most ancient pieces of human history and is well worth to visit it. In Sanliurfa don't forget to visit Balikligol, the acient Abraham's pond and Kizlikoyun catacacombs/necropolis. The ancient castle on the hill is still closed (due to earthquake in 2023). You don't even need a taxi, everything is in proximity of 15- 20 minutes walk.

The Museum of Archeology and the Museum of Ancient mosaics...

The Museum of Archeology and the Museum of Ancient mosaics are very interesting. Places associated with the Prophet Abraham. Several sites left over from the Roman period: the aqueduct of Justininan and the Roman Necropolis. You can visit the ancient city of Göbeklitepe, very convenient logistics (bus line 0 departs from the bus stop near the archaeological museum).

We stayed in the area after as part of a road trip from Trabzon to Cappadocia to Sanliurfa (for Gobeklieitepei). I would recommend the area if you are going to gobeklei tepe and have a vehicle. English is rather basic. We didn't feel overly welcomed compared to other areas of Turkiye. English is limited.

Most folks will be staying in Sanliurfa as means to explore Gobekli Tepe so will only stay for a few days. 2-3 days is more than enough time to see the sights and heritage. Mosaic museum is worth a visit.

The Bazaar, Abrahams Cave, the Golbasi, Archaelology and Mosaic Museums, Nemrut Dagi and Gobekletepe are a standout. The small street vendor ate the best for fresh, delicious food. The bakeries for bread and baklava. We hired a local guide who cost us TL 5000 a day, Tarik was amazing!

The hotel is a very beautiful mansion in old town with a beautiful courtyard and terraces, unique design of rooms, "medieval" from one side and very modern and well furnished from another side, just 15 minutes walk to Balikli Gel and most attractions. A very good Turkish breakfast is served in the morning. We would like to thank the hotel staff who were very helpful and attentive. If you want to feel the unique atmosphere of Sanliurfa it will be the right choice.

The bed & pillows were very comfortable, breakfast was out of this world, so good and generous. Staff were trying their best to keep guests happy. Hospitality was great by the owners. The hotel was so different than other places, when we stepped out of our room we can see the skies. I would like to stay there again, as it felt like we were in a different world, vibrant in every way, beautiful colours and smell.

The welcome,the care and support from Mr Bariş were way beyond the best possible. I received all relevant information about sourrounding areas,restaurants,trips,facilities even before arriving. The hotel is lovely and all the taxi arrangement made by Mr Bariş were perfect. His passion for his work shows. He really wants his guest to have a very good time and he is a genuine and warm-hearted person.
