If you're looking for a high quality local experience in Zanzibar, this is the place to go. Sandrine and David are the nicest hosts. They helped us before the trip with all questions that we had. Also, the breakfast was amazing and so was the lunch. I can recommend this place to anyone travelling to Zanzibar!

From the very first moment we entered the hotel, we felt completely at ease and genuinely welcomed. Every single wish and need was taken care of with warmth and attention to detail. Special thanks go to Chef Ally, a truly world-class chef who created outstanding dishes every single day. His food was simply incredible, and we already miss his exceptional cuisine! Beyond that, he always came to us personally with great recommendations and heartfelt conversations. The entire service team deserves praise – especially Ali, Akim, Miriam, Roman and Joyce who were always there for us with a smile, impeccable service, and wonderful, friendly energy. They made every moment feel special. Also, a huge thank you to the reception team, particularly Fatima, Mary, Asye and Mohammad, who helped us with absolutely everything – from taking photos to organizing activities and even assisting us when we forgot mosquito repellent. The General Manager, Arjun Kumar also deserves special recognition for running this place with such passion and professionalism. It’s clear that his leadership sets the tone for the entire team – everything runs smoothly, and you can truly feel that everyone enjoys what they do. The hotel itself is beautifully designed with so much taste and attention to detail. It truly leaves nothing to be desired. We felt incredibly comfortable throughout our entire stay and can only highly recommend this place to anyone looking for warmth, hospitality, and excellence in every detail.

This is a very small (4 rooms only) newly opened hotel just at the waterfront with private access. It's calm and relaxing. The staff is helpful. I had all my dinners in the hotel.

10/10 — Unforgettable stay! While booking, I was simply looking for a reasonably priced beachfront hotel, but Mandarin Resort exceeded all my expectations. White sand, a crystal-clear turquoise ocean right at your doorstep, and a breathtaking view — it truly felt like paradise. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. Every request was met with a prompt and polite “Of course, as you wish,” which made me feel genuinely cared for. Although the hotel offers an all-inclusive option, I preferred ordering à la carte — every dish was fresh and absolutely delicious. The rooms were spacious and spotless, the beds comfortable enough, and the pool impeccably clean. Everything contributed to a relaxing and memorable holiday. I will definitely come back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for high-quality, heartfelt hospitality.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The cleanliness was impeccable, the staff & management were incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious as well as other meals in the ocean view restaurant. The hotel boasts a large, green space, which added to the relaxing atmosphere. The rooms were recently refreshed and provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. Highly recommend.

Loves the authentic Cabin and loved the staff. What a charming place. We was there a month, so we really experinced it all. Our hostes was a absolut dream. So sweet and helpfull. Extremely helpfull. The rest of the staff was always so Nice. The Food was so authentic and tasted amazing everytime. So If your looking for a true tenzanian experince, this is the place. Would highly recommend.

I loved that it was a proper reflection of the Island in that you took home the beauty of the place and kindness of the people. It was not loud or noisy and had very few touristy hotels and vendors hassling you

Paradise …Jim’s, Salim, Irene and Juliane were exceptional...

Paradise …Jim’s, Salim, Irene and Juliane were exceptional always ready to help. They just couldn’t do enough for you. The reception staff especially Yusef were very accommodating especially as we arrived very early from Dar-es-Salam! They let us drop our bags and enjoy all the facilities until our room was ready! We had a wonderful stay in Paradise.

The area was great for just some time away from all the drama of the world and getting away from it all. The service is great and the staff at hand to assist. The pricing of the A La carte meals is bordering robbery though. They really should consider this and offer more food variety for long stays.

They serve best dinner and offer good performances. The water pressure was low on some days so it was difficult to shower. Our car was not allowed to enter the gate so we had to walk a long walk to the gate in the sun.

This place has an amazing ambient and a beautiful soul!

This place has an amazing ambient and a beautiful soul! It was like a hub for the coolest people from every country, looking for a peaceful, extremely relaxed vacation in a bit of wilderness, heartfelt conversations with alcohol next to the fire… it’s all in the package, and as a bonus you get one of the best teams - owners and staff members that are right there for you literally every minute. Thank you all guys- Benjamin, Annick, Cliffton, Melania, Elisabeth and others whose names we did not get to know;) You were all so amazing that even after two weeks it was a pity to leave. We look forward to meeting you all again! PS. A big thanks to Cliffton for recommending us Malaika, We enjoyed it to the fullest ;-)

It’s a very quiet and enjoyable place and you can book lots...

It’s a very quiet and enjoyable place and you can book lots of activities from there but overall there is not much going outside the hotels. The public beach doesn’t have any good restaurants or shops so you’re pretty much tied to your resort.

Good breakfast every day of fruit, toast, juice, eggs. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The owners assisted a lot with our queries and Zac, the massai waiter was entertaining and informative. The cabins are very basic with cold salt water showers and bushbabies scratching the walls in the evening. The village is within easy walk either across the beach when tide is out or down the muddy lanes. Villagers very friendly. We were able to use the pool in neighbouring bigger hotels when the tide was out gor a small fee.

We had the Jungle villa, it is really located at the edge of the forest, spacious and comfortable. Our butler Mussa was amazing, he was always there if we needed him, always very gentle and respecting our privacy. We were getting our special treatment at restaurant and the villa. A "small problem" is that my wife starts liking such personal attention 😁 Else the hotel is very spacious and even with the 40-ish rooms you hardly feel any crowd, it was very relax feeling 😍

We had a room with our own private pool whiich was next to the beach so a beautiful view over gardens and Seaview I can't fault this hotel. We booked into a nearby hotel but it was awful so booked in here last minute. Didn't even unpack. Luckily the mandarin was literally 2 minutes away Perfect. Wish we had stayed longer Staff 10/10
