From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed. Sheila, the manager, gave us a full tour of the entire complex and made us truly feel like part of the Zan family. Sheila is delightful and always attentive, making sure everything is perfect during our stay. The rest of the staff is equally amazing – always smiling and ready to help. Our room was spectacular and enormous, with a spacious living area, two bathrooms, an extra-large comfortable bed, and a terrace with a bathtub and breathtaking views. Stepping into the room was a sensory delight – beautiful decoration, cozy sofas, and immaculate cleanliness. We had access to three stunning pools right on the beachfront, two of which are infinity pools. They are perfect for relaxing while enjoying the incredible ocean views. The hotel has two restaurants: one international and one local. Every meal was delicious, especially the octopus curry, which was unforgettable. Breakfast was also excellent, with a wide variety of options. Zan Hotels also offers several complimentary activities. We went snorkeling on a reef full of colorful fish and starfish, and we got beautiful henna tattoos. Overall, our experience at Zan Hotels was extraordinary. Every detail, from the warm welcome to the amazing facilities and attentive staff, made our stay truly unforgettable. We want to share this experience not only in this review but also through a blog and additional reviews, showcasing everything Zan Hotels has to offer: rooms, pools, restaurants, and activities. This really is a wonderful place everything you need to relax. Small place, just 12 rooms, perfectly formed! Superb outlook, great bungalow accommodation, fabulous team of well trained locals led by one of the coolest and most efficient guys I have come across. Roger the Rasta is on it and you wouldn't even know it. Great choice of food and reasonably priced. Plenty of varieties of drinks and if you want something specific for your stay Roger and his team will oblige. Nothing seems too much. My daughters had a number of spa treatments as did some of the other guests who were there and all came back glowing. There were some low key, very entertaining events put on that got all guests hooked. Would definitely like to return soon!

Villa Fleur de Lys is a great sized villa, right on the beach, with a swimming pool and has excellent amenities. The rooms are large, with comfortable beds and en suite bathrooms. There is a kid's games room and an entertainment centre with a gym, foosball table, ping pong table and pool table. The included breakfast is big enough and the restaurant provided large portion sizes. The beach is okay for swimming, but aqua shoes are recommended as there are rocks.

You can truly call this place home. The hotel has 2 buildings with 4 rooms each. This allows the hotel staff to pay attention to each guest, avoiding the fuss. The meeting of us as guests was organized in the best way: at the agreed time, the driver met us with a sign and carefully escorted us to a comfortable mini-bus. We arrived at the hotel early in the morning, they waited for us and settled us immediately (I booked a room a day earlier, so as not to wait for the official check-in time from lunch). The room is very spacious, on the first floor overlooking the pool and the ocean. We spent the evening on the balcony listening to the sound of the waves. An important point: I have a rather capricious back and I was worried that sleeping on the bed would be painful. The excitement turned out to be in vain: a solid wood bed, heavy, with a good hard mattress and comfortable pillows. The sleep was amazing. Meals according to the "breakfast" system are quite varied: we never left hungry, and my favorite breakfast was avocado toasts and freshly squeezed juice :) The hotel menu is extensive, the food is delicious. The staff at the hotel is very friendly and does everything to ensure that guests from the first minute of their stay at the hotel are immersed in the atmosphere of "Pole Pole". The ebbs of the ocean did not bother us at all: we walked to the water and were already lying there before the arrival of high water. The only annoying thing is the algae, which wash up on the shore in large numbers. The atmosphere in the hotel can really be described as "family" - this is the exclusive merit of both the manager and the rest of the staff. Amazing vacation, just amazing.

Beautiful beach, warm and calm ocean to swim in. Lots of eating options, amazing people. Yes, there are people trying to sell you things on the beach - but was quieter than other beaches (Like Paje) and they are all respectful.

I've been in Makunduchi before and if you don't want to be...

I've been in Makunduchi before and if you don't want to be in the tourist hotspot it is great! The beach is fantastic (but be aware of the low and high tides). I would recommend arranging for a driver to get around as there are many great places to visit and you shouldn't stay put in just one place.

Due to tide no chance to enjoy the sea. Beaches are long, white and quiet. Very less tourist traffic. However far away from all the attractions. Nmemba island 2 hours drive, stone town 1.5 hours drive etc

We stayed at The One Zanzibar Resort in Makunduchi.

We stayed at The One Zanzibar Resort in Makunduchi. It was a lovely stay. Away from the hustle and bustle of Stone Town. The staff, facilities, and entertainment were all good. All the staff made sure that we were looked after.
