FAQs about hotels in Austin

A Unique Slice of Texas

Austin is a city like no other in Texas. A haven for the cool and creative, musicians and music fans flock by the hundreds to this ‘Live Music Capital of the World’ for yearly festivals like Austin City Limits and South by Southwest.

Historic downtown Austin is the seat of Texas government, and the seat of fun and entertainment for locals and visitors. Congress Avenue is the main artery through the city centre, leading you to the impressive Texas State Capitol building at the end. Just off Congress is 6th Street, the popular entertainment district with its quirky bars and fine restaurants.

Away from the hustle and bustle is tranquil Zilker Park, a 350 acre oasis in the heart of the city. Here you can wander through the Zilker Botanical Gardens, or take a dip in the inviting Barton Springs Pool, a natural spring where locals swim year round. A walk around Town Lake at sunset is a must.

Austin is also home to the University of Texas, where about 50,000 students are enrolled each year which ensures a fun and youthful atmosphere throughout the city.

It is possible to get around Austin by bicycle and bus, and Austin International Airport is only 13 kilometres from the city centre. From motels to resorts, Booking.com offers accommodation as unique as the city itself.

Austin is an amazing city with friendly people.

Austin is an amazing city with friendly people. The progressive atmosphere really makes it an appealing destination. The Austin City Limits has brought me here 3 times and if possible I'd like to attend SxSW festival or Wicked Oaks festival. the 6th street entertainment district is awesome collection of venues with a wide variety of music and performers.

South Congress was definitely a highlight - it has such a fun mix of shops, coffee spots, and live music. Also East fifth and sixth street. We also loved exploring Zilker Park and catching the sunset views at Mount Bonnell. We tried a few of the classics - BBQ at Terry Black’s, tacos at Veracruz, and brunch at Café No Sé. Every meal was amazing, and there are endless options all over the city. ATX Cocina and Craft have to be some of my favorite restaurants I've ever been to. We walked a lot around downtown and South Congress, and when we needed to go farther, ubers were quick and reliable and CHEAP. We took an uber across the city for about 7 dollars. Also Waymo partnered with uber so you could randomly get a waymo which is scary but also a really fun experience and you can decline it if it isn't your thing. Parking can be a little tricky in busy areas, but overall it was simple to get around. Kayaking on Lady Bird Lake was a blast, and we loved the live music scene. You can find great bands almost any night of the week. We also enjoyed just exploring the neighborhoods, checking out breweries, and relaxing at Barton Springs Pool.

Austin is a weird city.

Austin is a weird city. Lots to see and do and that makes it worth the trip, but not my kind of place. Too much traffic, cars and people on bikes, scooters and walking. Parking is a big problem and valet is costly. So happy to return to my quiet country life.

Austin is a place where it has many different types of people who bring their own cultures with them and it makes for a very interesting variety of activities in and around Austin. You can always find something going on. The good thing is you don't have to be involved with any particular culture you can just come as a guest. And I guarantee you will have a great time

Well Austin is Music.

Well Austin is Music. When you walk on 6th street, you have every house another Band playing (to loud) live Music. mostly Country. Beerprices are normal, Parking is high priced and strict controlled. Austin is the captital of Texas, so you can visit the Capitol, its free and interesting. In Austin you find every style of music you want.

Not a lot of positive aspects to describe. The property was relatively cheap compared with the hotels in the downtown area but at over $100 per night it was hardly good value considering the limited amenities on offer.
