Boron has charm of a bygone era. Local mining, aerospace history, and railroads have carved this little oasis out of the desert. Everyone you run in to will be friendly, there are great people in Boron. There are surprisingly great places to eat.. the Barrel has really good take-out..The Roadway Inn, at Kramer junction before you turn to come in to town is really good as well. There is a small aviation museum in town that pays homage to the legends of nearby Edwards AF base, and there is also so mining history. The Nearby Borax mone offers tours.

Boron is a fascinating town and part of the rich tapestry of American history. Essentially founded to service the local Borax mine, it has evolved as a generous community surviving in a challenging environment. Definitely worth a visit to learn about the town and the incredible mine plus the relationship with Edwards Airforce Base.
This is real America.
