I was raised in McHenry so I know Crystal Lake well....A constantly growing community with too much traffic but many choices for dinner.
This night I ate at Labemis on Main Street and it was excellent...I had the smoked pork chop.

It's OK for the location since it's one of the only decent...
It's OK for the location since it's one of the only decent hotels in the area. The bar and restaurant were nice. The room itself was dated and needs an update and some better furnishings.
The area has some very good restaurants close by. Example, Portillo's is a Chicago institution and this location was very good.

Getting around Crystal Lake was very easy.
Getting around Crystal Lake was very easy. We ate at Chen's Chinese Cuisine and it was some of the best Chinese food I've ever had.
People in Crystal Lake are very friendly. It was a nice change from Arizona. Got to see beautiful fall colors.

The overall stay at the hotel exceeded my expectation.
The overall stay at the hotel exceeded my expectation. I would prefer the breakfast be included in the hotel cost. I didn’t like paying a separate cost for a breakfast buffet. The breakfast was great but I didn’t get my money worth.

The decor in the rooms was weird. Very disjointed. Looks like some college kid went to Goodwill and picked up the chair and the fridge console. Also, the public areas were quite cold. The water they served in the restaurant was from the tap. It tasted horrible. I understand why you can’t have filtered water throughout the facility. But it baffles me that you would serve that nasty tapwater in the restaurant. Just saying…
