Loved Julian for our weekend getaway - arrived Friday...

Loved Julian for our weekend getaway - arrived Friday afternoon and left Monday morning which was just perfect. It does get incredibly busy during the fall season which means a line of cars going through town basically all day and makes finding parking a challenge. This is why we stayed at the Gold Rush Hotel which is so centrally located we didn't need to move the car whole Saturday. It was an incredibly cozy place to stay with a great fall grandma vibe and interesting history. Lines for the pies are insane during the day, so we were happy to wake up and head to the pie shops at 8am before the crowds descended. Lots of shops to browse (though most with crap you don't need), some antique places, nice to just walk around and people watch, get some cider, or food. Recommend to make reservations, even Sunday night dinner restaurants were still busy. Could be a different experience coming during the week, but remember some things are open only on weekends so do your research. We came in late October and all the apples were picked over, but I imagine during the hight of the picking season it gets even more busy. It is an excellent spot to feel the fall vibes at and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy time.

This property was unsafe and misleading.

This property was unsafe and misleading. Inside temperature reached nearly 90°F, making it impossible to stay, especially with children who suffered headaches immediately. The listing did not disclose the lack of AC, and the host only suggested “opening windows” instead of addressing the problem. We had to leave the same day, our trip was ruined, and the owner refused a refund despite video evidence. I have filed a formal complaint and will proceed with legal action if necessary.

Julian is where all Southern Californians go for amazing...

Julian is where all Southern Californians go for amazing apple Pie. And not to far down the road is San Isabel is Dudly's bread. Lots of gift shops in Julian, but I think it only has one antique shop left, and it has odd hours. Great bits of history also

We loved staying at the Gold Rush Hotel.

We loved staying at the Gold Rush Hotel. We actually got free breakfast every morning at this hotel. The other restaurants are really good too. Weather was cold, but we made the best of it. We did the Mining tour and even saw some wolves. Just a beautiful place to get away. I had fun shopping too.

Julian is Julian, always has been a tourist trap and forever will be , as far as food in town it was high-priced and mediocre at best for what you get, And the Pies, well ok but not so good that a 8-inch pie should cost 20 bucks, and slices almost 8 bucks for a small wedge of a pie , any of the Julian Pie shops have the same Pies, and same prices , they are making 64 bucks out of one 8 inch pie so you know about how big the slices are , if you want good food that is not pricey , go to San Diego to Old Town , food is great there , food is good and reasonably priced

We stay in Julian twice per year..once for my wife's birthday and the other for our anniversary. It's our favorite destination when we need to get away from home for a few days. Wonderful town to visit with lots of friendly people.

Our weekend stay in Julian exceeded expectations. The house was impeccably clean, bright, and comfortably accommodated eight adults. The kitchen was fully equipped, and amenities like BBQ and a cozy fireplace added to the charm. The beautiful backyard, surrounded by scenic trees, offered a perfect spot to unwind. Ample parking was also a plus. Ideal for a relaxing getaway with friends or family. The management and owners were very friendly, helpful and in constant contact ready to answer any questions.

Quaint, historic feel with lots of decorations, paintings etc that gave a gold rush vibe. It felt like the right place to be in Julian. Staff all very nice and helpful, good breakfast. Only stayed one night as part of a road trip - and it was a good choice for that. Not sure I’d have wanted to stay much longer.

Small and cute hotel with around 10 suites. View of the lake was amazing, and room stayed cool even in the heat of June. Very quiet. We definitely took advantage of the hot tub to relax the legs.
