The host was the nicest person, we arrived later that excpeted and she still gave us the warmest welcome, we brought diner to our room and it was delicious ! The breakfast is homemade and really good as well ! It's such a nice place to enjoy nature and some quiet time, the area is beautiful !

Perfect location right in the middle of town. With the comfy outdoor chairs you can either take in the early morning and watch the resident squirrel feeding from the tree box or have a relaxing drink in the evening before you go to bed. An amazing place to stay, very relaxing and quiet. Just what we needed after being in Las Vegas. Beds are super comfortable. Kitchen is well stocked. Lovely little welcome note and gift, we love the extra touches. We enjoyed being able to watch Netflix’s in the evening as a family. Very nice town just 5 minutes away. Lots of nice-seating areas outside.

Be aware that if it is off season most places are closed or...

Be aware that if it is off season most places are closed or have limited offerings and limited hours. Also beware that in the Seqioua National Forest you will lose cell service so definitely be prepared, know where you are going and bring a map of the park. There are minimal signs. Driving through the mountains is close to treacherous, long and very desolate. Prepare yourself!! Towns people were nice. Has an old western town feel. The landscape and the Seqioua trees are worth staying in Kernville. It's beautiful!

We love visiting the Kernville area.

We love visiting the Kernville area. The grocery store has a lot of tshirts and hoodies to commemorate your visit. The meat counter has wonderful steaks to bbq. The Kern River Brewing Co has great food and many beers to chose from. The pizza barn has very good pizza and delicious fresh baked sourdough bread. We went to Kernvelle in the middle of Oct. The leaves had not started to change yet. The river was low but the scenery was beautiful. The day temps were in the high 80s and the nights were high 40s. We will be coming back again. Maybe lste spring when the water is flowing higher.

We arrived at Kernville after many detours and roadwork...

We arrived at Kernville after many detours and roadwork disruptions. Even this far into May, evidence of winter road damage around hills and lake is evident and requiring work. The river is the feature of the town. Walking around was easy, there was not much traffic. It was a pity that many stores, gift shop were not yet open. It was thrilling to watch kayakers risking life and limb on pretty violent waters. Fishermen were hopeful. Would have been great to see fresh fish on a menu somewhere. Food quality at Ewings was excellent and staff were lovely.

Kernville is a quiet, peaceful town serving the tourism...

Kernville is a quiet, peaceful town serving the tourism industry of the Kern River Valley. There is a choice of eating options: two diners offeringAmerican breakfast and several restaurants - my particular favourite is Ewings on the Kern but others are available. The Piza Barn is worth a look - beer and Pizza, nothing fancy. The Kernville Saloon does not offer food, but is a vibrant town bar with music, sports and a good selection of craft beers as well as branded.

Corral Creek Lodge is a good hotel to stay in but not the...

Corral Creek Lodge is a good hotel to stay in but not the best in the Kernville area. Liked · Location was good...just 8.5 miles from downtown Kernville. Our room (6) was mostly clean and comfortable. The air conditioner/heater required help from the staff to turn on (a circuit breaker needed to be reset). The staff was helpful and friendly and responded to our requests in a timely manner. There was a very large grass area for guests with pets to use to exercise and relieve their dogs. The patio was equipped with seating and BBQ equipment that was clean and comfortable. Disliked · The shower curtain was the only item that was not as clean as it should have been (there was visible mildew on it and it smelled bad. There was a safety issue with the exterior steps that needs to be addressed. The steps are painted red but there is no paint on front edge of steps to warn you of the edge. I have attached photos to show the tripping hazard. The soundproofing in the walls between rooms is poor. We could hear guest conversations in room next to us. The dog rules are not being enforced...the guest next us did not have their dog on a leash and the dog was using the post supporting second balcony as it's pee spot. We had to walk thru dog pee to get into our room. The coffee maker needed to be cleaned better or replaced (a good soaking with vinegar would help remove stains). The AC/Heater fan button may have been broken because the fan stayed on ALL THE TIME and was disturbing to listen too.

location is lovely, just outside of Kernville and with access to the creek across the road. super pretty! the room is spacious, we booked two queen beds and they were comfortable, pillows comfortable too. the shower was had good pressure and hot water, and was very clean. the kitchen also had the basics and was clean, so we were very happy - has a coffee maker which is always a plus! staff was helpful and the general environment welcoming .

The host was friendly, helpful and informative. They met us on arrival and showed us through the property. They asked if we needed anything and generally made us feel very welcome. There is a great bakery in Kernville called Sequoia Bakery, which makes the best breakfast and lunch. Generally friendly country folk.

The staff was trying to help to accommodate guest's needs. When we complained about the room we assigned was not the room we booked, the staff reassigned us a more modernized room. However, if we really wanted to stay in a modern room with no lodge character, we would have booked a hotel.
