Not much going on.

Not much going on. We were there to see friends in gold bar and the nearby mountains. Beautiful scenery there. Found one overpriced coffee place which was very disappointing. Pastries looked like they came from Safeway and coffee was very poor.

Monroe has the fairgrounds, lots of shopping (Fred Meyer, WalMart, Harbor Freight, Dollar Tree. fast food - etc. Downtown are a few good restaurants. The Mexican place is pretty decent. Traffic is always super heavy & town has frown considerably over the years, becoming a busy bedroom community. I lied the quiet, sleepy village it used to ne

A great little town, people are friendly and helpful.

A great little town, people are friendly and helpful. The Fred Meyer store even gave us a discount, with out having to apply for the card. The Fairgrounds Inn is close to the train tracks, which made train watching more fun, and comfortable beds. The Buzz in Pub is a great place to eat, food is delicious, hot and plenty of it. My buddy and I were here in Feb 2020, just before the pandemic, and we are back in Feb 2023, and we will return Feb 2024, See you all then.

Great small town with friendly people.

Great small town with friendly people. Good food to be found. For breakfast I recommend Hwy 2 Fusion Diner a wonderful choice of Mexican breakfast foods ( the heuvos ranchero was excellent) and traditional breakfast foods (my choice was the veggie omelette while my hubby had the Lumberjack omelette). The service was excellent the staff very accommodating for special dietary needs. For dinner head to Banjarong Thai Restaurant, (curries to die for) as above excellent service and staff.

Overall, Monroe is a small rural city on a state highway.

Overall, Monroe is a small rural city on a state highway. I have passed through here for many years on my way east to hike and to ski in the winter at Stevens Pass. This place works for a jumping off point or a pass through. This trip was an over-nighter to run a half marathon the next morning in Snohomish. The old town (main street) is like a lot of rural and/or farming towns with older brick buildings and mom and pop businesses. Also, there may be other tourist attractions. If you want highway commercial you will find it. All the eating places were full and over crowded. I bought my dinner at the grocery store and went back to the motel. The city is evolving and expanding with newer residential areas.

The location was great, the staff were pleasant, plenty of places to eat around this hotel. It was comfortable, nice big beds, love the indoor pool! The breakfast was great, need more choices for children’s cereal. Other than that. This is our number 1, place to stay! Also the other guest’s were very nice and personable

We chose this hotel on the basis of its location on our way to Seattle airport from the North Cascades and therefore did not have particularly high expectations. The fact that breakfast was included was convenient, and admittedly the breakfast was actually okay. My daughter loved the swimming pool.
