Mount Airy is AMAZING!!!!!
Mount Airy is AMAZING!!!!! I would recommend this place to visit. I have been there several times and love being in Mount Airy. Main street is where you will find the Andy Griffith sheriff car and the memories of that wonderful show. I love the pie store... Miss Angels Heavenly Pies. Best pies I have ever had.. Please try her shop, its wonderful. Barney's and Walkers are great places to eat and the shopping is great. Lots of antique stores and thrift stores to look around at. So much to do and so little time. Please try to visit this amazing small town.

We visited Pilot Mountain state park, do recommend going...
We visited Pilot Mountain state park, do recommend going here, its especially great for couples or family. We also visited the shops that are in Mt. Airy that offers the nostalgia of Mayberry if you liked the Andy Griffith show when you were growing up. Definitely recommend this as well.
Also ate at a local place called Biscuitville, great food and people where actually talking to each other and not on their phones even the kids.
We also ate at a place called Dodge City which was obviously named after the fictional place in the show Gunsmoke. They had great food and was a friendly place.
We also ate at another place called 13 Bones, also great food and friendly place.

I love Mt Airy.
I love Mt Airy. The quant main Street has a lot of nice shops. The shops based on the Andy Griffith Show are great.. the Mayberry museum is really nice.
If you want a great meal go to the Depot on route 601 just south of Dobson. About 12 miles from Mt Airy.
I like the Bear Mountain shop for fudge, jelly belly beans, and other souvenirs.

I have never been to the area, and a lot of history was...
I have never been to the area, and a lot of history was downtown with a Focus on the Andy Griffith settings.
I did not see any celebrities this time , but I listened to Opie (Ron Howard) my entire childhood.
Overall I enjoyed this vacation even though it was short.

Immerse yourself into the slower pace of life in Mayberry. Listen closely for the humorous anecdotes spoken in the sweetest North Carolina accent by the locals. Turn off your phone, 'cept for picture takin' of course! Take it all in, wear baggy pants and eat like there ain't no t'marrah. Snappy Lunch for the Pork Chop Sandwich and Barney's Cafe for a fried bologna (pronounced "baloney", jus' like it oughta be). Remember to ask for UNsweetened tea if that's what you're used to drinkin', 'else it'll come sweet as the default. // Book a Squad Car tour down at Wally's Service Station. Best fifty bucks (for the whole car, no matter the number of passengers) you'll spend.

The people.
The people. Absolutely the friendliest place we have ever been. This town was everything we expected and more. Great shops, great history, great food. It was like being in Mayberry only better! Can't wait to visit Mt Airy again!!!!

This is a basic no-frills hotel. I stay there every time I drive to/from Florida/NYC, it is the exact halfway point. Although I call it "basic no frills"; they do offer breakfast. The people that work here are friendly and accommodating The room is clean and the beds are comfortable. It is an older motel but extremely well cared for and CLEAN! It is the perfect place for an overnight stay when driving through I-77 (easy off and on) and the price is right!

The staff was very pleasant and was accommodated my early check-in request. The free breakfast was also very nice....right up there with the major hotel chains. Room was very clean
