The breakfast was amazing. Staff were friendly and the hotel was very clean. The top floor gym has amazing views, lots of equipment, and spacious. It was my birthday and the manager (Benson) was kind to upgrade my room that has amazing views on the 25th floor. I would definitely come back on my next trip to NOLA

It´s a really beautiful, quirky and trendy hotel with a lot of thought put into the decoration. The bedroom was super cool, had lots of great touches, and was extremely spacious, comfortable, and just lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and it´s a fabulous location. A hotel which is alive. The kind which creates a feel good atmosphere. This also generates an easy flow of conversations, particularly around the pool. The whole hotel had a fantastic vibe, which always excited us when we got back from a long day. We absolutely loved our stay at Virgin Hotel New Orleans!!

Beautiful and quiet apart-hotel on a street that runs just parallel to Bourbon Street - so great access to all the bars and restaurants and vibes, but without the noise. The moment we stepped into Grenoble House, we felt safe and welcome. Front desk staff were delightful, especially Michael and James, and were always helpful with tips and recommendations. The courtyard is also lovely, with spacious seating areas, a small (dipping) pool and a hot tub (actually hot). The apartment itself was clean and well-maintained, and the kitchen was well-equipped. We loved the self-service coffee machine and bottled water at the reception, and the coffee there became our daily cuppa. Overall, Grenoble House was a great base for us for our 5 days in NOLA and we really enjoyed our time there.

FAQs about hotels in New Orleans

Getting its Rhythm Back

The home of jazz, intriguing New Orleans evokes images of Louis Armstrong, wrought-iron balconies and mouth-watering Cajun cuisine. Louisiana’s largest city, in the heart of the Deep South, the ‘Big Easy’ is being regenerated in the wake of devastating hurricane Katrina.

One area relatively unscathed was Bourbon Street – where jazz saxophones ring out of traditional bars interspersed by others offering more colourful nightlife. There are several New Orleans hotels near Bourbon Street, spread around the French Quarter with its distinctive Creole architecture.

To the south is Jackson Square, dominated by the Disney-esque St Louis Cathedral. Horses and carts wait patiently by the square, and locals set up their stools and start playing catchy tunes. Just behind is the legendary Mississippi River whose waters are still plied by paddle steamers.

From the river you get great views of the CBD skyscrapers and beside them is the huge Louisiana Superdome sports venue. Booking.com has several hotels near the Superdome, including some on Canal Street – a historic road where streetcars and the famous New Orleans Mardi Gras carnival pass down.

In the northern suburbs is New Orleans City Park, one of the oldest US parks and larger than NYC’s Central Park. Waterways lining it flow into large Lake Pontchartrain bordered by a bayou – the typical wetlands of the state.

I liked the culture and architecture.

I liked the culture and architecture. The people were friendly and welcoming. All the different areas of New Orleans was interesting from Bourbon Street to te Garden District. It’s amazing how the city has come together after such a tragic event of the hurricane.

Navigating the city by foot was very easy.

Navigating the city by foot was very easy. Streets were a lot cleaner then I imagined. The only time I was grossed out was when the police had their horses and there was huge piles of horse poop everywhere. to the point it was impossible to walk past without stepping in on Halloween. Food in this area was very very good. Best part of the city.

One big tourist trap.

One big tourist trap. Overpriced meals, dinners and "happy hour" specials that are bait and switch. I dinner check that should have been $35 with tip, was more than doubled. Also, the restaurant attempted to calculate the tip on the entire check including TAX, Special Service Fee (which appears to be another form of forced tipping) The entire experience says let's rip off the tourist as much as we can get away with. Some of the restaurants that were my favorites before Katrina apparently never returned. The one redeeming feature are the trolly cars which seniors can use for 80 cents a day. Riding them, you see a great deal of the city and get on and off at your leisure. The WWII Museum is a must see.

New Orleans is a great place for adults.

New Orleans is a great place for adults. There are so many good places to eat for breakfast - Mother's restaurant, Willa Jean's. Getting around is easy, you can walk most places in the French Quarter. The streetcar is easy to use. I'd recommend taking it up to see the Garden District and Audubon park. The aquarium and insect house were very fun.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Room was large, comfortable and well equipped with coffee machine, fridge, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Location was excellent on canal street with a tram stop directly outside and about a 10 min walk to the French quarter. Would recommend and if returning to New Orleans I would book the hotel again.
