FAQs about hotels in Washington, D.C.

A World Icon

Featuring tons of national treasures, Washington DC is the US capital and home to the world’s most iconic presidential building – The White House. Most visitors start at the National Mall, a huge park stretching from the Potomac River to the Capitol Building. It also encompasses the Washington Monument obelisk and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, of particular significance in US civil rights, commemorated by the latest addition - the Martin Luther King Memorial.

Also here are 11 of the city’s 17 incredible Smithsonian museums, including the unmissable National Museum of American History.

If all this gets too much, wander around Georgetown’s Colonial buildings and take a break in one of the student cafés. Many world cuisines are represented in Washington DC and the city also has its fair share of live music venues, with a surprisingly good jazz scene. The National Symphony Orchestra is based here and the Kennedy Center hosts a range of productions.

DC’s planning policy means there are no skyscrapers, so if you fly into Washingon Dulles Airport over the city, you see its white buildings standing proud. The city is also served by Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport and Washington National Airport. All are quite a way out, so leave plenty of time to get there from your hotel, apartment or guesthouse booked through Booking.com.

Washington D.C. is an incredible city—beautiful, organized, and full of history. From world-famous monuments to peaceful green spaces, everything is well-maintained and easily accessible. The public transport system is efficient, the streets feel safe, and the city has a unique blend of culture, politics, and modern life. The National Mall, museums, and historic buildings are truly impressive. Every corner reflects the city’s importance in global leadership and public policy. The people I interacted with were polite and helpful, which made the experience even better. Overall, Washington D.C. is a remarkable place to visit—clean, vibrant, and inspiring, especially for anyone interested in public health, governance, and international affairs.

Washington DC is a lovely place rich in history, Government offices, well organized with a good metro system that you can go anywhere with it or the bus. The city has plenty tourist attractions and hosts the White House and Political capital of the USA. There is a good sense of security. For shopping there are a lot of Malls around the city including the pentagon mall that has train stop in the mall. There is plenty of fun activities like clubs, restaurants, jogging trails, gyms and tourist attractions: National Mall, Lincoln memorial, DC Capitol and with Big bus Hop-on and Hop Off options it will take you 3 hours to tour the whole of DC attractions. If you can please visit Old Alexandria using the water car, you love it.

Washington, DC, is a great city with a rich history, with lots of places to go and monuments to see. But, all comes with a price; Parking, Parking, Parking! If you find a parking space, you can stay up to 2 hours; after that, you have to leave everything and renew your spot for another 2 hours. If you are not able to make it on time, the traffic cop will ticket you, and they have no mercy. I visited DC twice, and both times I got a parking ticket.

Plan out activities and make sure you don’t include too many in the day. There is so much to do and see that our main problem was confusion about what to do next. Getting around on the metro was great. This trip we decided to take the train and use public transportation. It was a good choice because we avoided the stress of driving. The monuments and memorials were breathtaking, but be prepared to walk. A cab driver recommended the National Shrine Basilica. We had no idea it existed, what a beautiful surprise.

DC is now a sparkling city, cleaned up and safe, and beautiful, as our nation's capital should be. Come and experience the beauty of this city and our nation's capital. It was a completely different city since we were there only a short time ago. Restaurants, hotels, parks, monuments, the Kennedy Center was amazing with family style classical performances, etc. So happy we got our nation's capital back to it's beautiful self again.

The hotel was in the perfect location for exploring Washington DC with just a short walk and in a safe and friendly neighbourhood. The room was comfortable and all the amenities were super clean and modern. The shared kitchen was also great to store things in the fridge for a quick breakfast in the morning. All the staff down to housekeeping were also extremely friendly and kind. A huge mention to Essam who went above and beyond during our stay. Such a friendly person who was always making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed!

The location is good. The hotel is located close to Foggy Bottom station. It's about 5 minutes away on foot. Foggy Bottom area is a quiet and historque area in Washington with colorful small houses, the Waterhouse maison and Kennedy Center. You can reach the National Mall, George Town and many museums 10-20 minutes on foot or by public portation. The staff is very friendly and our kids like them so much.

Very well located for sightseeing in Washington - all the main museums and monuments are within walking distance. Lots of restaurants, cafes and bars nearby. Very helpful and friendly staff. Room was a little dated (the hotel has a 70s vibe), but was clean and comfortable. Room had all the amenities you need, including fridge, and tea and coffee were replenished daily.

I have been in this hotel many times before 8-10 years earlier and it has transformed in a mediocre hotel. The good French restaurant is gone and the bar has changed into an ugly cheap atmosphere location. The rooms are still nice and clean, but no bar. The lobby has lost its atmosphere and the elevators are dirty. To be honest, this hotel needs a refit
