The city is clean, the people are friendly, and the old buildings are very well maintained. The Piazza dei Treinta e Trienna (Thirty-Three Square) is full of flowers and music. The cathedral is beautiful. The Teatro Maccio is a gem. The restaurants have good, plentiful food at reasonable prices.

It's a very beautiful city. I didn't have much time, but I really enjoyed it. The Macció Theater is a must-see. There was an exhibition on, and I was given a guided tour. You can eat at the San José Club's cafeteria; its terrace overlooks the main square. Rodó Park was very clean and well-maintained, perfect for spending some time outdoors.

San Jose de Mayo is very beautiful, but the Hosteria del Parque was one of the worst experiences of my life. To this day, no one has contacted me, not even to offer the most timid apology for the late-night pool parties that completely disregarded all COVID-19 safety regulations. The service was among the worst I've ever experienced. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. RUN AWAY FROM THERE!
