Very tranquil ,beautiful.views , enjoyed the swim and canoeing which were part of the trip, food was good . Be prepared for all the rub bish floating which was a shame and the hawkers in the little boats trying to sell.you stuff, we had a cabin with a balcony which was nice but as we were right next to the water they could harass you . We planned to stay in Halong for 1 day, on our way to Cat Ba island and planned to stay another day on our way back to Hanoi. Due to rough seas after typhoon Kajiki, we stayed 2 days in Halong. The town is very quiet, many businesses and hotels are closed and it shows what happens to a once busy and thriving place, when the tourists no longer come in their previous numbers. Facilities on board were excellent and our room was great. Cruise manager Phuc and her staff were absolutely fantastic. The chef and his staff produced the most beautiful food. It is a big city with a lot to offer.
It is a big city with a lot to offer. The draw card is the boat trip On the bay but the weather makes a huge impact on level of enjoyment. The day of our trip rained ALL day so the trip to the beach at the end was pointless whereas we would have liked more time kayaking as we were wet anyway. Chops and Hops had great food and drink, unfortunately the smoking at surrounding tables while we were eating was a hard no thank you. When we are on board tthey gave us hot hearbl tea as welcome drink. All food served on board was delishous. They were well organised for all activities, In the cooking activity, poeple prepare vietnamese food and at dinner we ate it. We had wonderfull time on borad. For 4 stars the service isn't quite what you expect. The staff are lovely but the access to service from staff isn't quite what's expected from a 4 star hotel. The pool wasn't available when we stayed there which was a shame as Ha long city itself is a bit like the benidorm or Vietnam.
